Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since they fix an annoying rendering bug, all users should update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.12.45 (current stable branch):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.13.14 (experimental branch with Marketplace Listings and global clothing layers limit support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a bug (introduced a few releases ago) that caused some megaprims (especially some sim surrounding landscape megaprims) to fail to render. See this thread for details.
  • Backported from Singularity (Shyotl's code) a couple of minor fixes and a couple of improvements to the rendering code.
  • Minor code cleanup.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since they fix a bad crash bug, all users should update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.12.47 (current stable branch):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.13.16 (experimental branch with Marketplace Listings and global clothing layers limit support):

New in these releases:
  • Reverted a backport (introduced in v1.26.12.45) from Singularity that caused crashes on resolution/screen size changes.
  • Backported from Firestorm (Nicky's code) a minor fix to the audio engine and a minor speed improvement to the rendering code.
  • Added some more NVIDIA cards to the list of supported/known graphics cards.
  • Some code cleanup and hardening against potential crashes.
  • Linux builds only: linked against a recompiled SDL v1.2.15 library providing only OpenGL/X11 support, so that the viewer executable doesn't depend any more on useless libraries (frame buffer, SVGA, etc).

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.13.18 (experimental branch with Marketplace Listings support):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a menu definition bug that prevented to properly set and change the rating of experiences in the experience profile editor.
  • Backported from Chalice's NACL viewer and from Marine's Restrained Love viewer, respectively, a speed optimization to rigged mesh shadows rendering, and a toggling of the latter. You may now choose (in "Advanced" -> "Rendering" -> "Deferred Rendering") between LL's original (and slow/redundant) method, NACL's new and optimized (20-30% faster method), or Marine's no mesh shadows rendering option (instead, the avatar shape is used to render the avatar shadow, and alpha clothing layers are ignored in this case, so that the shadow still renders when wearing full/part body alphas together with rigged meshes). The default is set to NACL's optimized method.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.12.49 (current stable branch):

Same changes as in v1.26.13.18, plus:
  • Backported from v1.26.13 the global clothing layers limit support.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

VMM (Viewer Managed Marketplace) has been deployed on SL main grid for a few months already and even though it is still considered in a beta status by LL, it is quite reliable (I migrated my Cool Products stuff to it as soon as it was made available on the main grid and did not encounter a single glitch so far) and is now very close to an official release.
Beside, I must move on and prepare the next experimental branch in order to make ground for the CEF (Chrome Embedded Framework) integration into the Cool VL Viewer (see this message).
The former, 1.26.13 experimental branch has therefore been promoted to the release status and re-numbered v1.26.14.
As announced in the roadmap, the former stable branch (v1.26.12), which only differed from v1.26.13 by the lack of VMM support, is from now on to be considered deprecated (please upgrade now to v1.26.14.0). Equally, the legacy branch (v1.26.8) is also deprecated and will soon be retired from the downloads section; again, please upgrade to v1.26.14...

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.14.0 (new stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Source files cleanup and reorganization.
  • Linux build only: new plugin files layout in the distributed binaries, to prepare the ground for CEF.
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.55.

Enjoy ! :D

VMM (Viewer Managed Marketplace) is being pushed into migration stage on the Marketplace by LL, so it's time for v1.26.8 to bow out; this branch is now totally deprecated and has been retired.
I also decided to wait no longer and release a first CEF3-enabled viewer (even if it's still a, far from finished, work in progress), so you'll find the first release of the new v1.26.15 experimental branch here.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.14.1 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • A fix to "object with invalid sculpt topology type cannot be seen or selected" backported from LL's viewer-lion.
  • A couple more minor fixes and some code cleanup (much of which is only related to Windows builds with VS2013).
  • Improved (for all platforms) and fixed (for Windows) the viewer_manifest.py script.
  • Removed a couple of unnecessary building-time dependencies.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.15.0 (new experimental branch with CEF3 plugin):

Same changes as for v1.26.14.1, plus:
  • Implemented the CEF3 plugin, which use (instead of the default QtWebKit plugin) can be toggled on demand via the new "UseCEF" debug setting. See this thread for details.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since they contain bug fixes, updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.14.2 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Backported from LL's viewer-lion a crash bug fix to asset storage.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-lion a new policy for the TOS floater, forcing all clicked links in it to open into the system browser.
  • Backported "sort experiences by name in the LSL editor experience chooser drop down list" from LL's viewer-lion.
  • Backported from Singularity a couple of minor rendering optimizations (Shyotl's code).
  • Backported from Firestorm a couple of fixes to exporting of non-printable characters in XML files (Nicky's code).
  • Backported from Firestorm a fix to a culling issue due to improper render map zeroing on initialization (Nicky's code).
  • Implemented a new login credentials floater in order to support loging with media plugins into HTTPS sites requiring username and password.
  • Improved Marketplace listings initialization logic (also, now no more reinitialize it after each region change, since VMM is now supported grid-wide and with the same URL everywhere for its service). Added a new "MarketplaceDisabled" debug setting to prevent Marketplace initialization in case you encounter issues with it (if so, please report it to me).
  • Added a new "RenderMoonLightIntensity" setting (did you notice that the moon and stars get darker in "advanced lighting" mode ?... Yes, there's something very fishy with it, in all current viewers...).
  • Code cleanup and minor optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.15.1 (experimental branch with CEF3 plugin):

Same changes as for v1.26.14.2, plus:
  • CEF3 plugin updated to LL's latest version.

Enjoy ! :D

SL merchants should update to them since Marketplace related bugs got fixed.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.14.3 (stable branch):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.15.2 (experimental branch with CEF3 plugin):

New in these releases:
  • Backported from LL's viewer-lion crash bug fixes to BMP and TGA images upload, when the image is corrupted.
  • Removed support for the now deprecated "Merchant Outbox" (it is no more considered a system folder and you can safely delete it).
  • Fixed many potential crash bugs in LL's code for Marketplace.
  • Fixed totally bogus inventory observer code in LL's Marketplace implementation.
  • Added a new "MarketplaceLargeInventory" debug setting which determines the maximum amount of products in the Marketplace folder beyond which the viewer will not automatically connect to the Marketplace on login (this should speed up login for people with a very large number of products). In this case, you get warned (by an "ignorable" dialog) and can still connect manually any time from the Marketplace folder context menu.
  • Minor code cleanup and optimizations.
  • FMOD Ex updated to v4.44.56.

Enjoy ! :D
