I just posted two repackaged releases of v1.26.2.24 and v1.26.4.7 for Linux, that fix a packaging issue that caused the failure to use the faster KDU image decoder on systems without libdb v4.2 installed.

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.8 (current stable branch with multi-layered clothes support):

  • Made it so that when retrieving grid parameters and the custom grid name field is left empty, it is auto-filled with either the advertized grid name or nickname.
  • Fixed the bug that prevented the Physics motions to be restarted properly after testing an animation on the avatar in the upload animation preview. See this thread for details.
  • Backported some fixes to the avatar rezzing from the viewer v3.3 "runaway" branch. Your own avatar should now rez more reliably and faster.
  • When reloading the textures of a selected object (CTRL SHIFT U), also reload any sculpt texture used by that object.
  • Widened the text field for the tracked object in the Area Search floater, so that coordinates of objects above 999m are not truncated.
  • Added the "Cyber Wrld" grid to the default grids list.
  • Added libdb v4.2 to the "all platforms libraries" archive for Linux builds, and distribute libdb4.2.so (needed by KDU) in the Linux package.
  • A couple minor code cleanups.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.2.25 (former stable branch without multi-layered clothes support):

This is a catchup with the bug fixes that went into v1.26.4. This is also the last release of v1.26.2 which will be retired as soon as the next v1.26.5 experimental branch will be opened. Please, upgrade to v1.26.4.

  • Made it so that when applied to speaking objects, the "profile" button in the active speakers panel opens the Object Info floater (instead of wrongly opening an unknown avatar profile floater).
  • Fixed the bug that prevented the Physics motions to be restarted properly after testing an animation on the avatar in the upload animation preview. See this thread for details.
  • Backported from v3.3.2 a fix to a potential crash bug in the files upload code.
  • Backported from v3.3.2 a fix to a failure to close the file saved by the "Appearance to XML" feature (in Advanced -> Character -> Character Tests).
  • libcurl updated to v7.21.1.
  • Widened the search input line in the "Members & Roles" tab of the "Group Information" floaters.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.9 (current stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a crash bug that could occur during rigged mesh uploads (irrelevant to Windows builds since mesh upload doesn't work on them for now).
  • Updated the colladadom library and the associated libraries to the latest versions.
  • Added support for the new LSL functions and constants introduced in the latest RC Magnum SL server version (llGetAgentList(), AGENT_LIST_PARCEL, AGENT_LIST_PARCEL_OWNER, AGENT_LIST_REGION and PRIM_SLICE).
  • Listed the NVIDIA GTX 680 among the supported graphics card in gpu_table.txt.
  • Replaced the "(Un)Mute" action in the pie menu for avatars with a "Mutes >" second level pie, allowing to directly (un)set partial mutes (chat, voice, sounds, particles) in excess of the full mute.
  • In the LSL guide browser, changed the combo to accept longer keywords.
  • In the Object IM info, widened the object name field to avoid truncating long names too soon.
  • A couple more minor code changes.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.10 (current stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Added a "Rebuild avatar" feature (in Advanced -> Character) allowing to rebuild your avatar skeleton from scratch after removing a rigged mesh which deformed the said skeleton (this is a work around for VWR-28458). To use this feature, first remove all worn rigged meshes, then trigger "Advanced" -> "Character" -> "Rebuild avatar". Note that if there are other avatars around you, you will also need to TP away from them (so that your avatar data gets cleared from their viewer) and TP back to them so that they can see your avatar fixed in their own viewer (the Cool VL Viewer can't repair the mess that occurred in their own viewer...), but at least this work around saves you from having to relog each time you take off a rigged mesh...
  • Cleaned up the Advanced -> Character sub-menu, reordering the options, removing the non-functional ones and exposing a couple (that are only accessible to grid admins with true "god" status) that were previously only exposed in non-release builds.
  • Qarl's mesh deformer experimental feature updated to v0.3 (the main difference with v0.2 is that there are no more frame freezes while computing the deformers).
  • Backported the improved money transaction reports from v3 (now localized and more detailed).
  • Exposed the AllowMultipleViewers option (normally enabled via "--multiple" in the viewer executable command line) as a setting in the Preferences floater, "Cool features", "Miscellaneous" sub-tab.
  • Made it so that the Cool VL Viewer uses specific error markers files (those marker files are created when the viewer crashes) so that crashes from other viewers are not counted as a Cool VL Viewer crash in LL's stats (those files are checked for on next session and a flag is sent on login to report a former crash).
  • Added Gay Nations to the default grids list.
  • A few minor code changes.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.11 (current stable branch):

This is a bugfix release, let's call it the (1st of) "May Day" release ;-)
Updating is recommended and encouraged.

New in this release:
  • Tracked down and squashed many "crash after log out" bugs that, while never interrupting the users' sessions and having went unnoticed by them (me included !) as a result, could cause changed settings to fail to be saved. Thanks must go to Oz Linden who pointed out a surprisingly high crash rate which did not correspond to the users' experience. I also rearranged the data saving code so that the settings are saved just after the disconnection from the grid and before the crash-prone UI and threads cleanup code is executed, just in case... Also backported many v3.3.3 fixes to such "crashes after log out" cases.
  • Updated the mesh repository code to match the latest v3.3.3 viewer's.
  • Qarl's mesh deformer experimental feature updated to v0.3.2 (no user-visible difference, only code level changes).
  • Added a new "Enable gesture sounds" setting to the "Audio & Video" tab of the Preferences floater (disabling this setting allows to block all sounds played via gestures).
  • Removed the defunct GiantGrid and Pseudospace grids from the default grids list.
  • Made it so that pre-compiled libraries header files get the precedence over the build system ones (changed the corresponding #include <...> for #include "..."): this is especially important for the boost headers.
  • A few minor bugfixes backported from v3.3.3.
  • A few minor code changes.
  • The Linux wrapper script now can take a "--debug" option (to be specified first on the command line, e.g.: cool_vl_viewer --debug --multiple) to automatically launch the viewer from within gdb (saves from having to edit the wrapper script when wishing to launch a debug sessions).

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.12 (current stable branch):

Since crash bug fixes went into this release, updating to it is recommended.

New in this release:
  • Tracked down and squashed a couple more "crash after log out" bugs.
  • Added a "notifications" icon to the status bar that appears when notifications are waiting for acknowledgment (together with their number), and that, when clicked, toggles the displaying of those notifications off and on. See this thread for details.
  • Qarl's mesh deformer experimental feature updated to the latest bitbucket version with an added crash bug fix by me. Please, note that since v0.3 is out, the mesh deformer seems to suffer from an issue: the deformer-ready meshes are only deformed properly the second time they are worn in the session (i.e. you have to wear the rigged mesh, take it off and wear it again). Qarl has been made aware of this issue (as well as of the crash bug I fixed).
  • Improved the Model Preview floater by adding an uploading message to its status line (so that you know things are actually taken care of after pressing the "Upload" button).
  • Added a new "TP to Ground Level" feature (available from the "World" menu, below the "Teleport Home" entry).
  • Backported from v3 the support for the PERMISSION_TELEPORT script permission (not yet in use on the grid even if it can compile in scripts already).
  • Removed the "Wilder Western" grid (which was merged with "Open Neuland") and replaced it with it the new "Neuland" grid in the default grids list.
  • A couple minor bugfixes backported from v3.3.3.
  • Some cleanup and code hardening (removal of potential crash bugs), minor code changes and a few speed micro-optimizations.
  • For Linux builds, auto-generate a debug symbols file (secondlife-bin.debug) when the 'eu-strip' (elf utils' strip) command exists on the build system. If you copy this file into the bin/ directory of the viewer installation, it is auto-loaded in gdb when you launch the viewer with 'cool_vl_viewer --debug'. Note that since the debug symbols file is 200Mb big, it is not distributed in the release package, so this feature is only useful for your custom builds.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.13 (current stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Added spell a checking feature. See this message for details.
  • Added a confirmation/warning dialog when quitting the viewer while some notification(s) are still unacknowledged.
  • RestrainedLove: lifted the maximum height correction limits in @adjustheight so to deal with the new micro or macro mesh-based avatars.
  • For Linux builds only: fixed a crash bug caused by the newest fontconfig v2.9. See this thread for details.
  • For Linux: added an option (LL_REPORT) in the coll_vl_viewer wrapper script that, when enabled, makes the latter script report any success or failure of the viewer session via a dialog (Xdialog, Zenity or xmessage, whichever is present on your system) and presents the stack trace log when it was created after a crash.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.14 (current stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Added a Text Input floater for the chat and IM input lines: you can now configure the viewer (in "Preferences" -> "Cool features" -> "User Interface") to auto-open a text input floater automatically whenever the chat or IM input lines get so full that they must be scrolled left. A small ">" button was also added on the right of the input lines to manually open the text input floater. The advantage of the latter is that it is a multi-line input field that you can resize at will so to fit the size of your text (two sets of position and size are remembered: one for the chat input and one for the IM input), as well as navigate in the text easily with the cursor movement keys (Left and Right, of course, but also Up and Down). Note that since the text of the input lines is automatically copied to the text input floater when it is open and since the latter is auto-focused as well, you don't risk to loose characters while the floater auto-opens (you can keep typing and everything will be fine). By pressing ENTER (or closing it manually with the "X" button), the text input floater is closed and the text is copied back into the corresponding (chat or IM) input line. This is of course a feature designed for "para-RPers" who always pester about too small a chat input line. ;-)
  • Made the Hide/Show Mispelled words feature a per-line/text editor setting (there is still a global setting that determines whether this feature is enabled by default on creation of each line or text editor, but disabling or enabling it in one editor doesn't affect the others any more).
  • Removed spell checking from the scripts editor (was not meant to use spell checking).
  • Added Speculoos to the default OpenSim grids list.

Enjoy ! :D

IMPORTANT

There was a faulty XML file in the v1.26.4.13 and v1.26.4.14 packages that partly broke the texture preview floater: if you downloaded them, please either get v1.26.4.14b or get the fixed floater_preview_texture.xml file and place it in the skins/default/xui/en-us/ sub-directory of the viewer installation directory.

Sorry about that...

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

This is a crash bug fix release: all users of v1.26.4.14 shall update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.15 (current stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a crash bug introduced in v1.26.4.14 (and due to my own stupidity) that would make the viewer crash sometimes when typing text in a line or text editor.
