Here are two releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.19.2.85 (stable branch, legacy renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.16 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)

New in these releases:
  • New FloaterGroupTitles patch: Implements a Group Titles floater (invoked from the pie menu, by right-clicking on your avatar and selecting "Ttiles...") which allows to quickly and easily choose and set the title (and corresponding group) for your avatar.
  • New SecondLifeDetection patch: detects whether the viewer is connected in Second Life or not. Needed by the new versions of the ObjectBackup and ShowTextureUUIDwhenPermitted patches.
  • Updated TeleportHistory patch: adds the Parcel name column to the history floater, fixes a bug in time stamping, and uses the timestamp format configured in the preferences (24 or 12 hours clock).
  • Updated ObjectsBackup patch: adds proper error reporting on export, and now behaves differently in Second Life and in OpenSim grids. In Second Life, the TPV policy (as stupid as it is) is strictly abode, only allowing you to export the objects you own and created, and to save only the textures you uploaded yourself (and still have in your inventory since there is no other way to check for texture permissions/creator). In OpenSim grids, you may export any full permission object you own (but it is not a reason to violate the TOS of these grids: you must make sure the creator of the object allows you to export it to other grids if such is your intention).
  • Updated TextureUUIDwhenPermitted patch: Now behaves differently in Second Life and in OpenSim grids. In Second Life, you can only get the texture UUIDs of objects you own and created. In OpenSim grids, you can get the UUIDs for any full perm object you own.
  • Updated MoreGrids/MoreGridsDynamic patch: a couple of grids login data updated.
  • Updated CommonDateAndTimeFormats patch: no functional change, just one more line of code added for cooperation with other patches.
  • Updated CoolVLViewerBranding patch: added more Cool VL Viewer specific credits to the About floater.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.19.2.86 (stable branch, legacy renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.17 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)

New in these releases:
  • New MinimizedFloatersConfigurableStacking patch: allows to stack minimized floaters either bottom to top or top to bottom, and keft to right or right to left, and to limit the portion of the screen width used for stacking to a fraction of the total width.
  • New AvatarNameInWindowTitle patch: shows the name of the avatar you connected with in the viewer window title (and in the corresponding button of the desktop task bar).
  • Updated FmodLagWhenTooManyChannels patch (replaces AudioEngineNoLogSpam): fixes an issue with viewer lag and sound "stuttering" under Linux with FMOD when too many software channels get allocated (was only seen in areas with an insane number of sound sources).
  • Updated DoubleClickTeleport patch (for v1.23 only, v1.19 was not affected): fixes a crash bug when double-click TP is enabled and you double-click on an attachment which is unrezzing.
  • Updated ChattingObjectsLink patch (for v1.23 only): Now also adds a link on the first word of the text emitted by name-less objects.
  • Updated OblongSculptiesCrash patch (for v1.19 only, and merged into the FlexibleSculpties_v3 patch): fixes an issue with sculpties rezzing.
  • Updated CoolPreferences patch: adds the settings for the minimized floaters stacking.
  • Updated CoolVLViewerBranding patch: added more Cool VL Viewer specific credits to the About floater.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.19.2.88 (stable branch, legacy renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.19 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)

New in these releases:
  • New StutteringAndLagInAudioEngine patch (replaces FmodLagWhenTooManyChannels): this time, the extreme lag and sound stuttering experienced in sims with an insane number of playing background sounds seems solved, both with FMOD and OpenAL drivers.
  • Updated ObjectBackup patch: now allows to export your attachments (no more need to drop/rez them on the ground), and adds an Export entry in the File menu (Imprt/export sub-menu): note that you must select the object (by editing it) so to be able to export it from the File menu (useful for attachments, since there was no room left for an Export entry in their pie menu).
  • Updated RevertUIchanges patch: do not toggle any more the mouse-look mode when toggling the IM floater (with CTRL T): see this message in the forum.
  • Updated ShiftEscResetsCameraView patch: now only allows to exit the mouse-look mode with SHIFT ESC (no more allow ESC) to prevent having to close the chat bar when exiting mouse-look (the chat bar has the focus when open in mouse look, and pressing ESC closes it...).

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.20 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)

New in this release:
  • New NewScriptFunctions patch: adds support for compiling and highlighting the new script functions of viewer 2 (note that the new media script functions yet do not have any effect in viewer 1.23 or older) and of SL servers v1.38 and v1.40 (these 100% server-side functions also work with v1.23 and older viewers).
  • New AnimationOffsetAdjust patch: allows to adjust the Z offset of the avatar (actually its bounding box height) so that animations height can be corrected. This offset is a volatile setting (not preserved over sessions) and can be changed in real time from a new spinner in the "Movement controls" floater. See this post for details.
  • Updated IllegalAttachmentPoints patch: fixes an issue with "Center 2" HUD attachment point becoming unavailable when AllowIllegalAttachPoints is set to FALSE.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.21 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.24.0.0 (experimental branch, Snowglobe-based)

New in the v1.23 release:
  • New MiddleMouseButtonCopyPaste patch: implements middle-mouse button pasting of selected text under Linux (won't change a thing under "Windoze").
  • Updated MoreGridsDynamic patch: a couple of OpenSim grids connection data updated, and patch reworked so to allow to specify either part of the grid label (for example "secondlife" or just "sec" to match the SecondLife grid) or the grid name (as it shows in the grids.xml file, for example "aditi" for "SecondLife Beta") after the --grid command line parameter (makes for the problem with grid labels containing spaces, since only the first word is then take into account by --grid).
  • Updated NewScriptFunctions patch: this new version adds the new llGetNumberOfSides() function which will be available on the future v1.40 grid servers.
  • Updated StutteringAndLagInAudioEngine patch: this new version increases the number of audio buffers to 100 (instead of 60 in the previous version and 40 in LL's official viewer): should make the viewer able to cope even with an insane number of rezzed objects with sound within the draw distance.
  • Updated MaxNetworkBandwidth patch: increases the maximum bandwidth from 8000 to 10000kbps (same max bandwidth as in viewer 2).

Now, let's speak about the Cool VL Viewer v1.24:
  • It is based upon Snowglobe v1.4.0.3439 (SVN trunk version 1.4.0, revision 3439).
  • It includes all the patches used for the Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5 (well all of those which correspond to still unfixed issues or still unimplemented features in Snowglobe).
  • It got patches to fix a few of the Snowglobe-specific quirks and bugs.
  • It got OpenSim compatibility patches (grid selection combo on the login screen with editable grids.xml file, changed saved login file format to make it independent from the grid list order, world map that works both in SL and OpenSim).
  • It is still HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL (do expect crashes and quirks !).

Enjoy ! :D

Here are two new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.22 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.24.0.1 (experimental branch, Snowglobe-based)

New in these releases:
  • New CPUhungrySearch patch (for v1.24): Snowglobe tends to eat up all the CPU power as soon as a built-in browser window is open, and the search floater got three such windows that are never closed (since the Search floater is never destroyed once created, but only hidden when toggled off). This patch allows you to actually destroy the floater (thus freeing the CPU and the memory) by using the "X" close button. Using Edit-->Search (CTRL F) and the "Search" button of the toolbar still toggles the search floater as usual (thus preserving the search results).
  • New SLPluginFixes patch (for v1.24 only): backport from viewer 2 of various fixes for the media plugins. Under Linux, it also sets the priority of the SLPlugin to the lowest one, thus preventing any noticeable frame rate drop and system responsiveness slow down when a built-in browser is in use.
  • Updated DoubleClickTeleport patch (for v1.23 only): backport from v1.24 (Snowglobe v1.4) of its better double-click teleport feature (prevents accidents when clicking on script-touch objects, and allows to teleport via a double click on the mini-map).
  • Updated ReinstateOldSearchTabs patch: this new version suppresses the irrelevant tabs ("All (web)" and "Showcase") when connecting in other grids than SeconfLife's.
  • Updated MiddleMouseButtonCopyPaste patch: should fix the issue with mouse focus stealing under Windows that was introduced with the first version of this patch.
  • Updated ImageGLPickMaskCrashFix patch: this new version fixes yet another case of crash that could occur when clicking or zooming on a rezzing object.
  • Updated CoolPreferences patch: properly sets the DoubleClickAutoPilot and DoubleClickTeleport flags (which are exclusive from each other) when the double-click teleport feature is activated.
  • Updated CoolVLViewerBranding patch: adds more credits and makes sure that even when not using the English UI, the proper About floater is displayed (used to display the translated official viewer one).
  • The Linux build uses the r3485 SVN version of Snowglobe v1.4.0 as the sources base.

Enjoy ! :D

Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.24.1.0 (experimental branch, Snowglobe-based)

New in this release:
  • New LLImageGLNoLogSpam patch: prevents log spam (which could occur once per frame and gets throttled to once per second) while watching some videos with unrecognized alpha channel.
  • Newly ported TextureCacheHiccups patch: at first, I thought this patch won't be needed for v1.24 since the way Snowglobe makes room in the cache was less crude than what previous viewer versions did, but I still noticed viewer side lag spikes whenever the texture cache was cleaned up to make some room, and this patch prevents such spikes.
  • The viewer is now based off Snowglobe v1.4.1 sources. IMPORTANT: if you installed v1.24.0 before you can't just update it and you will have to install v1.24.1 from scratch, since the overlay package holds the files differing from Snowglobe v1.4.1 (and not v1.4.0); install Snowglobe v1.4.1.3580 first (link in the download section of the site), then the overlay (difference) package for v1.24.1.0 over it.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.19.2.89 (stable branch, legacy renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.23 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.25.0.0 (experimental branch, Snowglobe v1.5-based)

New in the v1.19 release:
This is just a maintenance release (with a catchup for a couple of minor bugs that were already fixed in v1.23 and two new bug/memory leak fixes), since there is no more new feature being developed for this soon deprecated branch (see the roadmap for details).
  • New ViewerImageReadBackRawImageNull patch: fixes a viewer crash when encountering some corrupted textures.
  • New LLImageMemLeak patch: fixes a memory leak in llimagegl.cpp.
  • Updated IllegalAttachmentPoints patch: fixes an issue with "Center 2" HUD attachment point becoming unavailable when AllowIllegalAttachPoints is set to FALSE.
  • Updated CoolVLViewerBranding patch: makes sure that even when not using the English UI, the proper About floater is displayed (used to display the translated official viewer one).

New in the v1.23 release:
  • New ViewerImageReadBackRawImageNull patch: fixes a viewer crash when encountering some corrupted textures.
  • New LLImageMemLeak patch: fixes a memory leak in llimagegl.cpp.
  • New CachedRegionObjects patch: fixes broken object geometry caching per region which rendered such caching useless in v1.2x viewers (v1.19 and v1.25 unaffected), thus increasing rezzing time in already visited regions.

New in the v1.25 release:
  • New ViewerImageReadBackRawImageNull patch: fixes a viewer crash when encountering some corrupted textures.
  • It is based upon Snowglobe v1.5.0.3610 (SVN trunk version 1.5.0, revision 3610), which already includes the other fixes listed for v1.23 above.

Enjoy ! :D

Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.24 (stable branch, Windlight renderer)
Cool VL Viewer v1.25.0.1 (experimental branch, Snowglobe v1.5-based)

New in these releases:
  • New ItemLinksSupport patch: Yes, Inventory links are now implemented in the Cool VL Viewer ! See the details in this post.
  • New TextureCacheCrashFix patch (for v1.25 only): fixes two crash bugs in the texture caching of Snowglobe.
  • New NoDuplicateLandmarkAssetRequest patch: prevents some viewer side lag spikes when opening landmarks folders.
  • New ReportMetrics patch: gives meaningful log reports when a partly unimplemented report function is used by the viewer (see this post).
  • Updated RevertToOldMap patch (for v1.25 only): fixes a display bug in the world map on SL grids (see this thread).
  • Updated Radar patch: Friends' names now appear in green in the radar floater.
  • Updated FloaterGroupTitles patch: a "OK" button added which can be used (instead of the "X" close button) to close the floater: handy for large floater sizes (less mouse moves: I'm just lazy !).

Enjoy ! :D
