Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Again, not a large update, this week, because I've been busy updating the Cool Products in SL and no new fix (that wasn't already part of the Cool VL Viewer) made its way to any of LL's viewer branches... So, it's just polishing with a few bug fixes and a minor new feature.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.51 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.8 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.8 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Repaired the "Zoom Dependent Resize Handles" feature that got broken in v1.26.4.49.
  • Fixed a bug that could potentially cause avatar texture rebake failures.
  • Added the missing group name label in the Group invite floater and a missing AvatarPickerSortOrder debug setting used by the avatar picker.
  • Added new "<" (select previous linked part) and ">" (select next linked part) buttons to the Edit floater (it's easier and much faster to use these buttons than the corresponding "Tools" -> "Select Linked Parts" -> "Select Previous/Next Part" menu entries).
  • A MacOS-X build fix by Kathrine Jansma.
  • Some minor code cleanup.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since a few crash bugs have been fixed in these releases, updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.52 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a rare crash bug in (invalid) animations playing. See this thread for details.
  • Backported a fix to a rare crash bug (occurring with some invalid volumes) from Firestorm.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-beta a fix to a crash on exit during mesh downloads.
  • Split the "Use non-blocking file picker" feature setting into two different debug settings for Windows (where it is enabled by default) and Linux (where it is disabled by default because of incompatible threading models between LL's pre-built GTK+ libraries used to build the viewer and newer GTK+ libraries bundled with the latest Linux distributions). Linux users that are not affected by crashes when using the threaded file picker may re-enable this feature from the "Advanced" -> "UI" sub-menu.
  • Added a setting ("Advanced" -> "UI" -> "Hide TP-related floaters on TP success") to toggle the behavior of TP-related floaters (world map, teleport history, search, landmark previews...) between auto-closing on *successful* TP, or staying open. See this message for details.
  • Improved the world map: 1.- You do not need anymore to validate the newly entered TP coordinates (by tabbing out of the X/Y/Z spinners) before pressing the Teleport button (this used to ignore the last entered coordinate). 2.- When clicking on the world map to select a TP destination, the Z coordinate is no more changed to the avatar's current Z coordinate while a valid Z coordinate was already set (let's say that you select a landmark from the combo box (which starts a tracker for the corresponding coordinates), and then decide to TP a bit away from the tracker point, clicking on the map won't change the Z coordinate but only the X and Y ones, as expected).
  • Made the "Do not move the camera out of objects on collision" setting independent from the "Disable camera constraints" one (i.e. you can now disable the camera constraints and still have the auto-zooming on camera collision with objects active). See "Preferences" -> "Input & Camera" -> "Camera Controls" for these settings.
  • Backported a minor rendering optimization from Singularity.
  • Minor code cleanup and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.9 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.52, plus:
  • Backported from Singularity a minor fix to the deferred rendering of the sky.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.9 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.6.9, plus:
  • Fixed a bug that was affecting the new server-side baking code and that caused crashes when invalid/crasher objects/avatars were being rezzed (missing check for out of bound texture index).

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Users of v1.26.7 should update to v1.26.7.11.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.54 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.11 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):

New in these releases:
  • Implemented a new, hopefully better fix for out of FOV moving child primitives (might cure the vehicle bug: please let me know in this thread). The now inoperant "UseNewMovingPrimsFix" setting has been removed.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause failure to rebake textures in some rare cases.
  • Removed the artificial delay after teleports (backported from LL's viewer sunshine-external branch). To re-enable this delay, set the new "DisablePrecacheDelayAfterTP" debug setting to FALSE.
  • Some code cleanup backported from sunshine-external.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.11 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.6.11, plus:
  • Backported the latest fixes (including crash bug fixes) to the server-side baking code from LL's viewer sunshine-external branch.
  • Made the manual rebake requests (CTRL ALT R) more aggressive in server-side baking mode, by force-updating the current outfit folder version.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since the "vehicle bug" got fixed in these release, updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.55 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):

New in this release:
  • Vehicle bug fixed. Fix by Martin Fürholz.
  • Implemented a viewer-side updating of Classic Clouds when the sim server doesn't provide update messages for them (this is currently the case in RC Magnum sims). This means that you will be able to keep enjoying classic clouds with the Cool VL Viewer even after LL turned them off on their servers !
  • Optimized the Classic Clouds update routines, and made it so they don't use processing power for nothing (Classic Clouds are now auto-removed when beyond draw distance and a new "Sparse Classic Clouds Updates" setting was implemented (toggle in "Advanced" -> "World") which allows to avoid loosing time parsing an insane number of useless update messages when one such message per second and per sim is more than enough). These simple changes made my FPS rate jump from 220 to 280 in my skybox (and from 190 to 250 for v1.26.6/7) !
  • Made it so that when toggled off (e.g. in the "Preferences" floater, "Graphics" tab), the currently rendered Classic Clouds are now removed without any need to TP away. Also, any change in the Classic Clouds altitude setting now takes effect within a minute after a simple off/on toggling of the Classic Clouds.
  • Removed the "Custom" check box from the Graphics settings panel (i.e. all the graphics settings are now always displayed in this panel) and made it so that toggling the "Deferred Rendering & Shadows" setting takes immediate effect (like all the other settings in this panel).
  • Removed the deprecated and inoperative (not used anywhere in the code) "Fixed Weather" setting from the "Advanced" -> "World" sub-menu.
  • Build floater UI layout bug fixed.
  • Some code cleanup and minor optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.12 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.12 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.55, plus:
  • Backported from Singularity a minor fix to stars rendering.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.56 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):

New in this release:
  • Reworked the code for faster fast timers.
  • Backported from Firestorm a fix to a mesh model upload crash bug.
  • Fixed the bug that prevented the getNextFileInDir() to work properly (it affected old cache files clearing on cache location changes).
  • Improved the Statistics floater so that the FPS scale is auto-adjusted to the current FPS rate every 10 seconds.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.13 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.56, plus:
  • Backported from Singularity a minor fix to opaque water rendering.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.13 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.6.13, plus:
  • Backported from viewer-sunshine the new IncrementCOFVersion capability support.
  • Added an "Aggressive avatar rebakes" setting (toggle in "Advanced" -> "Character") to force a COF version incremental in SSB regions and a more aggressive rebake (close to what is obtained by opening and closing the Appearance floater) in non-SSB regions.
  • Some minor code cleanup.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.57 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a crash/infinite loop on exit bug that occurred when using the "Quit" button on the login screen.
  • Improved and optimized for speed the debug consoles (fast timers, textures and debug messages consoles) and the velocity bar ("Advanced" -> "HUD Info" -> "Show Velocity Info"). Also, they are now properly resized when the viewer window is resized, the debug console uses the full window width when needed and now got an independent setting for the max number of lines ("ConsoleMaxLines" that was common to the chat and debug consoles has been replaced with "ChatConsoleMaxLines" and "DebugConsoleMaxLines"), the velocity bar shows a full scale and changes color with speed, etc...
  • Removed the pretty useless and glitchy "Frame Timers" console (the Statistics floater and the Fast Timers console present the same or more complete info in a way more explicit/usable way).
  • Backported better HTTP error diagnosis from viewer-sunshine.
  • Better audio volume default settings.
  • Disabled the "Memory Safety Checks" feature for Darwin builds (Darwin alas doesn't provide any reliable way for a program to know what actual free virtual address space is still available for itself).

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.14 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.57, plus:
  • Made sure that the experimental (and pretty glitchy) "RenderCompressTextures" setting is never enabled by default when adopting the recommended graphics settings.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.14 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.6.14, plus:
  • Backported the latest fixes to server-side baking from LL's viewer-sunshine branch.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.58 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6.15 (current stable branch with v3.4 renderer):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.7.15 (experimental branch with mesh deformer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a bug introduced in v1.26.4.57 that caused the chat or debug console to be reduced to 5 lines tall till next relog when their max number of lines setting was changed.
  • Fixes to mesh model uploads potential crash bugs, inspired from Firestorm's fixes.
  • Improved the region capability code by backporting LL's v3 viewer latest changes and refining them further: a new "RegisterChangedCaps" debug setting has been added so to force the viewer to take into account modified capabilities resent by regions (experimental, off by default).
  • Added an "AnimationsMaxPriority" debug setting for animation uploads (4 is normally the maximum priority, but 5 seems to be accepted in SL).
  • The new HTTP core is now enabled by default for textures fetching (can still be toggled off in "Advanced" -> "Network").
  • Added a "Load floater from XML..." entry to the login screen "Advanced" menu so that you can test modified UI floaters without having to log in (hey, when you are Internet-less for a full day, you must find ways to still be able to code the viewer nonetheless :-P).
  • Polished the layouts of the texture console and of the world map floater.
  • Code cleanup and some minor optimizations.

Enjoy ! :D
