Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are bug-fix releases that cure an annoying bug, introduced quite a few releases ago (it is surprising that no one complained about the related crashes, but I myself did not notice them until the recent changes to the server-side "interest list" code which made things much worst, because of the higher number of loaded objects and textures they are causing), and that resulted in out-of-virtual-addressing-space crashes on TPs when the memory usage was high. Updating to them is highly recommended !

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.6 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.70 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.6 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

New in these releases:
  • Removed a (now useless anyway) non-rezzing-prims-after-TP work-around that caused a transient increase in memory usage and fragmentation on TP, and resulted in out-of-virtual-addressing-space crashes when TPing out of memory-hungry places.
  • Plugged more possible crash bugs on out-of-memory allocation failures for new images.
  • A few minor fixes and optimizations.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.7 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.71 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a crash-on-exit bug seen in MacOS-X builds. See this thread for details.
  • Fixed a bug in the "Make New Outfit" floater that caused wearable items check boxes to stay disabled. See this thread for details.
  • Made it so that inventory links are searchable in inventory whenever the search string contains "link" (allows for easy broken link listing). See this message for details.
  • The "TPArrivalToResetVBDelay" setting is now set to 0 by default (instead of 10s), i.e. the "Vertex Buffers reset after TP" work-around for non-rezzing prims is now disabled by default: let me know if you still see any need for it (I don't but it may be system-dependent).
  • Backported from LL's viewer-development a crash fix to the mesh repository.
  • Implemented gcc v4.2 and v4.6 compilation warning fixes. Added an "--ignore-warnings" option to the "buildlinux.sh" script to allow easier building with untested gcc versions under Linux. Adopted Kathrine's fix for compilation under MacOS-X.
  • Various minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.7 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.7, plus:
  • Backported the latest fixes from viewer-development-materials.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are bug-fixes releases. Update is recommended and pretty mandatory for voice users...

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.8 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.72 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed an infinite loop bug that occurred in the last few releases when opening the Active Speakers floater with voice enabled. See this thread for details.
  • Added more diagnosis debug messages for the issue with initial outfit in OpenSim. See this thread for details.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.8 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.8, plus:
  • Backported yesterday's fixes to materials editing (including a fix for a crash bug) from viewer-development-materials.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.9 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.73 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed crash bugs in the name list controls and path finding tools floaters (a crash could sometimes occur when they were closed before all avatar names were fetched).
  • Fixed group names not displaying in the path-finding tools (path-finding characters and link sets floaters) for group-owned objects.
  • Improved the "Area Search" floater, now with "Mute", "Mute by Name", "Derender", "Report", "Inspect" buttons (handy with some objects used by griefers that are transparent can't therefore be right-clicked to trigger the corresponding options from the tool pie menu).
  • Ported the texture size debug info display from Chalice Yao's NaCl viewer, debugged it and improved it (now also displays which faces are using what texture size). Toggled via "Advanced" -> "Rendering" -> "Info Displays" -> "Texture Size". Useful for sim owners wishing to optimize the viewers memory usage in their sim... Too many large textures cause huge memory usage (and slow rezzing, especially on first visit of the sim).
  • Backported a couple of fixes (among which one potential crash bug fix) from LL's viewer-development-materials.
  • Got rid of the Carbon library dependency for MacOS-X builds in llvfs (bakcport from LL's viewer 3).
  • Removal of some dead/unused code.
  • Various minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.9 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.9, plus:
  • Backported the latest materials-related fixes from viewer-development-materials (fixes to texture maps scaling during editing and some fixes to the shaders and render pipeline: full bright prims in deferred rendering now almost looking good, but alpha prims are still badly f*cked up: see this JIRA issue for details).

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.10 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.74 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Fixed a potential crash bug when the viewer is launched from a web browser via a click on a SLURL.
  • Fixed potential (though very unlikely) crash bugs in the octree code.
  • Fixed the "Show In Inventory" feature that was not working as originally intended, and made it so that the throttling messages about previews of newly recieved items is only shown on actual throttling of actual pre-viewable items in inventory.
  • Added an "Inventory" sub-tab to the "Cool features" tab of the "Preferences" floater and moved in it the inventory-related options that were previously listed in the "Miscellaneous" sub-tab.
  • Exposed the "OSUseCOF", "OSAllowInventoryLinks" and "OSAllowMultipleAttachments" settings (the latter also now TRUE per default) in the "Inventory" sub-tab of the "Cool features" tab of the "Preferences" floater.
  • Made it so that temporary texture uploads and Z-offset controls got properly disabled in SSB sims (that alas don't support them).
  • Removal of some dead/unused code.
  • Various minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.10 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.10, plus:
  • Backported the latest materials-related fixes from viewer-development-materials.
  • Fixed the bad Windlight clouds rendering in deferred rendering mode.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.76 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in this release:
  • Implemented a workaround for the OpenSim bug that caused attachments status to be lost on TPs. See this message for details.
  • Optimized the UI elements and inventory memory usage (inspired from an optimization by Nicky for Firestorm, and further refined by me). People with a very large inventory might notice a smaller memory footprint (by several megabytes: seeing a 3Mb improvement, here, with only 14000 items in my inventory). Note that the "DebugInventoryFilters" feature was removed (it was not working properly anyway).
  • Backported a few (non-materials related) fixes from LL's viewer-development-materials.
  • Added support for the new LSL functions and constants released in this week's RC Le Tigre server (llReturnObjectsByID(), llReturnObjectsByOwner(), OBJECT_RETURN_*, ERR_*).
  • Made sure that the log file is properly flushed on logout to avoid having it truncated from the last few log messages (was especially affecting Linux builds).
  • Windows build of v1.26.4.76 only: fixed the last aligned memory freeing bug, which allowed to get finally rid of tcmalloc (yay !). v1.26.4 should now work fine along software (such as Skydrive) that replace the Windows file selector, for example.
  • Removal of some dead code and various minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.12 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.76, plus:
  • Backported a few (non-materials related) fixes to the render pipeline from LL's viewer-development-materials.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.12 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.12, plus:
  • Backported the latest materials-related fixes from viewer-development-materials. Please, read this important message too.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are bug-fixes and cleanup releases; updating to them is recommended.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.77 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a crash bug in the built-in web browser that could occur when closing it shortly after it got opened and the web page was not yet loading.
  • Fixed the HUD icons code so that icons appearing when a mesh fails to load is not confused with a script error icon.
  • Implemented a work around for the SL server bug that causes mutes by objects for objects without a name to become irremovable from the mute list.
  • Fixed the problem that caused the target-omega objects to stop spinning when your avatar was sitting down on them.
  • Backported from Firestorm a fix to a potential crash bug in grass rendering (original code by Nicky).
  • Reworked the layout of the "View", "World" and "Help" menus (in particular, moved the "Teleport History", "World Map", "Mini-Map", "Radar" and "Area Search" entries from the "View" menu to the "World" menu) for a more intuitive/logical one.
  • Added the newest NVIDIA and Intel GPUs to the list of supported ones.
  • Removal of some dead code, code cleanup, various minor fixes and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.13 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.77, plus:
  • Backported a few (non-materials related) fixes to the render pipeline from LL's viewer-development-materials.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.13 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.13, plus:
  • Backported the latest materials-related fixes from viewer-development-materials.

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

These are emergency bug-fixes releases that cure a bad crash bug introduced in last Saturday's release as well as other, older, annoying bugs. All users should update.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.78 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in this release:
  • Fixed the Snapshot floater crash bug introduced in v1.26.4.77. See this thread for details.
  • Fixed the bug, introduced in v1.26.4.74, that caused changes in object extra-parameters (light, flexible parameters, etc) to fail to propagate to the renderer. See this thread for details.
  • Fixed potential cash bugs in spatial partition octrees traversal code.
  • Do not let HUD objects drawable visibility get checked against in-world objects occlusions (this is plain silly and could cause blurry HUDs !).
  • Fixed a potential cash bug in server message logging.
  • Fixed a potential cash bug in focused floater highlighting.
  • Minor code cleanup and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.14 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.14 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.4.78, plus:
  • Fixed an object occlusion/culling bug that caused some textures to stay blurry (and perhaps some objects to fail rendering at all) when shadows rendering and objects occlusion were both enabled: note that this bug affects all v3-based viewers, albeit in subtle, random different ways.

Enjoy ! :D

Here are three new releases of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.8.15 (current stable branch with v3.5 renderer and server-side baking support):
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4.79 (legacy stable branch with v2.6 renderer and server-side baking support):

New in these releases:
  • Backported the Hover shape parameter that was (wrongly) implemented by LL to (poorly and inappropriately) address the SUN-38 issue. Note that I made it so the backport doesn't break the compatibility with old viewers (v1.23 or older, Snowglobe, Imprudence, etc) that are still in use on OpenSim grids.
  • Added a work around for the Avatar Z offset issue in SSB sims, that works (slowly and unreliably, alas) as long as your avatar wears a modify-ok shape. See this message for details.
  • Backported a few fixes/improvements to the llcorehttp library from LL's viewer-sunshine.
  • Added support for the llXorBase64() LSL function (that replaces the buggy llXorBase64StringsCorrect() and llXorBase64Strings() functions).
  • Improved the algorithm for texture bias and memory usage throttling to try and avoid some out of virtual address space crashes (such as when teleporting, within a single sim, from one busy/heavily textured place to another, farther than the draw distance).
  • Updated the freetype library to v2.4.12.
  • Incorporated debugged libopenjpeg sources to the viewer sources: that library is also now statically linked to the viewer. It's a backport from Singularity (itself being a backport from Phoenix, IIRC) with additional fixes.
  • Minor code cleanup (with removal of dead code) and optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.9.15 (experimental branch with server-side baking, mesh deformer and materials support):

Same changes as in v1.26.8.15, plus:
  • Backported the latest rendering fixes from viewer-development-materials.

Enjoy ! :D
