Here is a new release of the Cool VL Viewer, available now from http://sldev.free.fr/:

Since a crash bug has been fixed, updating to it is recommended.


Cool VL Viewer v1.26.20.4 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Fixed a crash bug in LLProfile destructor, due to super-dirty, non thread-safe coding practice from LL, and that could (rarely, but it happened to me once) occur during mesh class objects destruction.
  • Improved the "skinnability" of the viewer, and added support for a "custom" skin in excess of the "default", "silver" and "dark" ones. See this post for details.
  • Fixed a cosmetic bug in the spin box labels color real-time updating. See this thread for details.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to scroll list columns resizing.
  • Improved the "About" floater (in particular, it now also gives info about the detected VRAM amount).
  • Fixed a bug that prevented to display the IM recipient name in the alert box whenever an IM fails to be sent.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to the path finding objects list updating, in some circumstances, in the path finding linksets floater.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to the failure to display the script bug icon above your avatar's head when the script is held inside one of your HUD objects.
  • Fixed a cosmetic bug in the "Land & L$" tab of the "Group information" floater that prevented to display your contributions when the latter were 0 m2.
  • Implemented Lua scripting and automation support. See this thread for details.
  • Code cleanup and minor optimizations.

  • Backported from Firestorm (Drake Arconis' code) fixes to potential crash bugs in the UDP messages data packer code.
  • Backported from Firestorm (Drake Arconis' code) rendering glitches fixes in shaders.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to "voice calls from users with muted text (but not voice) should be received".
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to "edit menu shows land impact of object you are sitting on instead of 0 when selecting your attachment".
  • Added a "Lua scripting help..." entry to the "Help" menu.
  • Lot's of code cleanup and some speed optimizations.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.20.7 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Restrained Love updated to v2.09.21.21. See the release notes section in the RestrainedLoveReadme.txt file for details.
  • Extended and improved the Lua scripting and automation features (now with a buttons side bar). See this thread for details.
  • Added a setting to allow disabling the additional avatar lighting while customizing its appearance (toggle in "Advanced" -> "Character" -> "Customize appearance lighting")
  • Lifted the 10 seconds audio sample limit for uploaded sounds in OpenSim, and raised it to 60 seconds (this is also configurable via a new "OSMaxSoundDuration" debug setting, should OpenSim servers raise again that limit in the future).
  • Fixed the bug that caused DEBUG tags specified in app_settings/logcontrol.xml to be ignored. Such tags are also now displayed in red in the "Debug tags" floater ("Advanced" -> "Consoles" -> "Debug tags")
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko the fix to "top and bottom cube faces do not show a selection silhouette".
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko the "ability to set custom folders for uploading items": a new context sub-menu ("Use as default for >") for inventory folders has been added to allow defining the associated folder as a default for various types of uploads (animations, meshes, sounds, textures). The currently defined upload destination folders are also listed in "Preferences" -> "Cool features" -> "Inventory" and can be reset to their default value from there too.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko the fix to "object-contents are not updated after wearing from ground".
  • Fixed the flaky wear from ground auto-pilot algorithm which caused the wear action to fail, most of the time.
  • Lua library updated to v5.3.4.
  • Code cleanup and minor optimizations.

  • Now reject key-frame motions with incorrect number of constraints, instead of ignoring the latter: this could well fix a weird (dump-less) crash bug I have seen happening with some mesh avatars...

  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix to "avatar has no animation while moving if wear and detach object in edit mode".
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko capping of attachment complexity to avoid signed integer overflow in avatar complexity scores.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko a fix (speculative fix since I could not reproduce the issue in the Cool VL Viewer) to "context menu orphaned when Inventory floater is closed by keyboard shortcut".
  • Added "Party Destination Grid" to the list of default OpenSim grids.
  • Minor code cleanup.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.20.10 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Fixed the nasty UI rendering bugs introduced in v1.29.20.9
  • Moved "AvatarOffsetZ" from the "LuaSettingsReadOnlyWhiteList" debug setting to the "LuaSettingsWhiteList" one, so that avatar Z offset can be changed from Lua.

Cool VL Viewer v1.26.20.11 (stable branch):

New in this release:
  • Changed TRIANGLE_STRIP GL renders into TRIANGLES ones in all speed-critical render pipeline paths (which results in many less GL flush() calls).
  • Backported from LL's viewer-postcard the changes to the post-card snapshots logic (the sender email is no more transmitted in SL) and improved that feature with proper detection and alert when it is not available, such as in (all ?) OpenSim grids, proper default filling up of empty fields, etc.
  • Some code cleanup.

  • Backported from Singularity/Firestorm (not sure which viewer implemented it first), and further improved, a speed optimization for texture decoding (fast meta-data fetching for JPEG2000 textures).
  • Backported Lightshare support (OpenSim-specific per-sim Windlight settings sharing) from Singularity and Firestorm. This feature is disabled by default, the toggle being available as "World" -> "Environment settings" -> "Lightshare support". Please note that if you override the sim Sun position on login (via "Preferences" -> "Cool features" -> "Miscellaneous" -> "Sun position at login"), the Lightshare settings will be ignored/overridden as well.
  • Minor code cleanup.

  • Changed the Lightshare code logic so that the Windlight settings are not reset on region change or whenever a "reset Lightshare" message is received, while no Lightshare override is in force.

  • Backported from Singularity a few minor rendering speed optimizations.
  • Backported from LL's viewer-neko the possibility to render friends even when their avatar is above the maximum render complexity. Corresponding check box added to "Preferences" -> "Graphics" -> "Avatars rendering".
  • Minor speed optimizations and code cleanup.
