Now the showcase is garbled with distorted graphics.

I might try reinstalling with the new webkit plugin you linked to and see if there's any change.

Darn, same error. I untarred everything from the cli this time just to make sure File Roller wasn't causing issues.

I don't understand... What "same error" ? Do you mean the "garbled graphics" in showcase ? If this is the case, is everything else (login screen, web search, ...) OK ?

As far as extracting; your instruction is the way I did it also.

With the previous webkit plugin the showcase was just white, now it shows colored lines and other artifacts.

i got the same error after upgrading to 1.26

I run also Ubuntu 11.04 64bit. Today i tried to upgrade to 1.26.0.14, but i got the same error.



under 1.25 everything works fine... now the web-search seems to be broken, and the Start-Screen is empty...

When reporting a bug, please post the full Secondlife.log: you just posted an irrelevant line and harmless warning dealing with persistent notices history (never implemented fully in Snowglobe and former viewers)...

As for your issue itself, try installing, by order of preference:

• QT Webkit plugin v4.7.1, unoptimized
• or QT Webkit plugin v4.6, v2.8 viewer's llqtwekit based
• or QT Webkit plugin v4.6, v2.4 viewer's llqtwekit based

over your v1.26.0.14 installation (from a terminal, cd to your installation directory and untar the QtWebkit-plugin-Linux-*-1.26.0.14.tar.bz2 tarball there).

Ok, downloaded everything, setup a test directory with fresh downloads of the viewer, diff files and QT plugins.

Results:

All tests failed. media_plugin_webkit not functioning on 64bit Ubuntu 11.04.

I'm having the same problem with CV 14, but when I try that download:
