Over in the Windows changelog, you wrote...

NOTE: if you don't want to redo all your settings with v1.26.6 and/or v1.26.7, just copy your settings_coolvlviewer_1265.xml file (or settings_coolvlviewer_1264.xml, but then you will have to redo the Graphics settings) to settings_coolvlviewer_1266.xml and/or settings_coolvlviewer_1267.xml. For the location of the user_settings sub-directory containing the said settings files, please see this Wiki page (the user_settings sub-directory is at the same level as the logs sub-directory).
The last version I used was 1.26.4.42; I'm trying 1.26.6.0. I copied settings_coolvlviewer_1264.xml to settings_coolvlviewer_1266.xml. What happens when I start Cool VL Viewer is that I get a message saying "Display settings have been set to recommended levels based on the system configuration." And then the program freezes up.

If I delete settings_coolvlviewer_1266.xml and start from scratch, the program runs just fine, but then I lose all my settings. I can do 'em all again if I have to, but if there's an easier way of getting them back (any bits in particular I should delete from the old file, perhaps?) that would be nice.

(I'm running Win7, 64 bit. As per our previous discussion, I got rid of msvcp80.dll and msvcr80.dll, as I have for every installation since then.)

Thanks!

Oh, interesting bug... apparently a race condition. I found a fix for the next release, but in the mean time, you will have to redo your settings (or use the settings file from v1.26.5 if you ran the latter, since the v1.26.5 settings file will not cause the dialog to appear and trigger the race condition).

Fair enough. Thank you! :-)

Edited to note: so I copied the settings from .4 to .5, ran it, then went to .6, and all is well. Thanks again! :)
