Phoenix viewer runs perfectly for me, it is now to break when Linden make changes as the Firestorm team have turned away from it.
Looking at alternatives such as CoolVL and Singularity as these are similar to Phoenix, most surprised to find I crash after login with an Nvidia Error of Open GL loosing connection with display driver because of exceeding Windows time-out limit.
I have a resonable computer with Nvidia GT320 card.
Phoenix runs perfect.
Now I find these alternatives give me for EG. 10fps where on Phoenix I would have got 40fps, before the crash comes shortly after login, I can't remember the last time Phoenix crashed on so far back in time.
I'm most surprised at this, do you think it is Nvidia drivers not liking the viewer or the viewer not liking the GT320, I allways keep the driver up to date. Crash occurs with both the latest Windows 7 64bit approved driver and the latest issued by Nvidia.

If your driver and/or graphics card is too old, then the v3.4 renderer is not for you. Use the Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4 (which uses LL's 2.6 renderer; Phoenix' renderer was derived from the Cool VL Viewer's v1.26.1 which was also derived from LL's v2.6).

Thank you for response.
As I said Nvidia driver is very latest, I would not say Graphic card is old about 18 months. I have uninstalled 1.26.7 and installed as you suggested 1.26.4. This as stopped the crashing just after log in as was happening and FPS have increased.
Will I see holes in people wearing Mesh things in this version?
I'm not technical and do not understand your different versions of Cool VL, I'm sorry. I had picked the one out because I saw the word Mesh and now the previous version of Phoenix hadn't the Mesh feature and showed people with holes in bodies untill the latest Phoenix came out and Firestorm team say it will break soon and will not now be supported, I think they apply this doom and gloom to all V1 type viewers.
The person who recomended the alternatives being supported and doing Mesh were your Cool VR and Singularity.
To keep up with your later versions are you suggesting I think about a new graphic card and which Nvidia cards have you and others found satisfactory above my GT320 specification?
Non technical me is hoping the next driver from Nvidia might have your later versions work for me as obviously you have brought them out for a good reason.
Thank you
June

The Cool VL Viewer has been capable of mesh rendering since v1.26.1 was out (it was the first v1 UI viewer with mesh support), so you will see mesh with any current release. For rigged mesh worn on avatars, the v2.6 renderer used in v1.26.4 and older versions requires that your GPU can do "Hardware Skinning" (do check this setting in the Graphics tab of the Preferences floater). v1.26.6 and later (which are using the v3.4 renderer) can render rigged meshes without hardware skinning.

My main system has been running with a GTX460 for the past two years and it accepted anything I thrown at it so far.

I can confirm any client running with GTX 260, GTX 460 and GTX 680. No idea if the missing X in GT 320 is the culprit maybe. :P

(I can confirm problems with the ATI Radeon 5800 HD. As the ATI drivers are not good at all when it comes to OpenGL.)

Simply try another driver version (the latest version is not always the stablest...), and make sure your driver is configured *not* to override *any* of the applications' settings (the ATI "AI" stuff, for example, is particularly toxic to OpenGL apps)
.
