Occasionally when listening to music on sims, there will be a stutter then a crash. It's been happening for about the past week. Wasn't occurring on previous experimentals.

The SecondLife.log file does *not* correspond to the crash (it corresponds to a normal, crash-less session). Please provide *both* the SecondLife.log and SecondLife.dmp files that are produced at the very time the cash happens ! |

Try this weeks releases (v1.26.4.50 or v1.26.6.7 or v1.26.7.7): they had the audio engine further "hardened" against improbable race conditions and crashes. |

Ah, finally another crash lol - I'll include the proper logs this time around and see what you think =) Coolviewer is generally quite stable so I'm amazed when it does crash.

Ah, at least something relevant to pose a diagnosis... and mind you, the crash is not at all related with sound ! It's simply the viewer's watchdog timer kicking in (and voluntarily crashing the viewer to get out of a total freeze) when it notices the rendering stopped. The sound stuttering is simply the result of the rendering "hiccups" before the whole rendering loop freezes (sound buffering is done at each frame: when frames stop being rendered or render erratically, sound also stops, or the buffer empties and the sound streaming stalls). Similar issues have been reported with some graphics cards/drivers combinations (apparently, NVIDIA GT (not GTX) cards seem affected) and the v3.4 renderer: it's not specific to the Cool VL Viewer and I alas cannot investigate since my own graphics card (GTX460) is not affected at all by this bug... See also the similar issues posted on this forum about freezes and timeouts, since it could also be something else (such as Windows' stupid USB plug'n play detection routines impacting the viewer joystick detection: if this is your case, simply check the new "Never try to initialize" setting in the "joystick options", "Input controls" sub-tab, "Input & Camera" tab of the "Preferences" floater). Your graphics card/driver could also be happier with the v2.6 renderer, in which case the Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4 will be best for you... |

This is the same crash. Watchdog kicking in. Nothing new, and nothing I can do to help you beside what I already explained (see above). |

Also saw a sound stutter and crash recently, but no logs. Win7, NVidia 540M, current Nvidia Drivers. Will try to get some better logs if it happens again. Kathrine |

ok here's a proper sound stutter crash caused by a gesture sound. crashed very quickly after the gesture was played.

FYI, The fact that the sound stuttered is just the result of the log spamming that preceded the crash (look at your log) and the fact that Windows being a Mickey Mouse operating system, it prefers to give the highest priority to disk writes for the log (which are asynchronous, non critical I/O operations) instead of giving it to sound buffering (which is a near real-time, critical operation that, when delayed, causes sound buffer exhaustion and thus, stuttering). |
