Edit Appearance is blocked during image load

Whenever I go into Edit Appearance it starts slowly as it takes about 10 seconds for each of the preview images to load on my computer.

I'm unable to use any of the dialog items (data fields, sliders, scrollbar or buttons) before all currently visible images are fully loaded. Every input is blocked during this time and I'm unable to close the dialog at all.

This not only happens at start it happens everywhere in Edit Appearance.

I dont have this problem with any other viewer I used so far (e.g. Singularity, Phoenix, Firestorm) but from what I've seen, the big difference is, that the other viewers let me immediately use the dialog and do the changes while the images are still loading (in the background).

My guess is that it's an issue with your system (never seen any such thing here, and no one else reported a similar issue), but I can't diagnose anything without the logs. Follow the rules of this forum, please !

Also, you are not running the latest release (v1.26.6.8 is four weeks old already !): see the rules as well about it.

It turned out that the problem only exists with the experimental feature "Compressed Textures" unter Hardware Options turned on. And yes, it exists in other viewers as well (as the official viewer runs very badly if at all on my hardware I only testet with Firestorm "Enable Lossy Texture Compression").

In addition, the problem might be related to my relatively poor network conditions.

Having an average fps around 14 or higher and a ping sim about 230 msec or less before editing appearance, it drops down to an fps of 1.2 or less and a ping sim of 5200 msec or higher during image load in Edit Appearance. However, there is no Packet Loss.

In the log attached here, I entered Edit Appearance, waited till the images were loaded, switched to Torso, waited till the visible images were loaded and switched back to Body again.

Without "Compressed Textures" turned on, Edit Appearance works with normal speed as expected. As a workaround I turned "Compressed Textures" off.

Sorry, for not having attached the log and not having used the latest version (I didn't expect a newer one). I read the note about bug reporting in this forum and especially as a former developer I should have known better.

Yes, the texture compression is experimental (as pointed out in the tool tip for its check box in the "Hardware Settings" floater). I'll make sure texture compression is never enabled by default by preset graphic settings in next releases.
