Odd... The crashes happen in different places and where they are theoretically impossible to happen (strictly nothing wrong in the code there)... They could be due to memory corruptions (hidden by the fact v1.26.4 still uses tcmalloc under Windows), probably the result of some incompatibility between the renderer and your graphics driver (that's just a guess, but that's my best guess).

Try v1.26.6 and see if it runs without such crashes (and if it crashes, it should crash exactly when the memory corruption happens, since tcmalloc is not there to hide it: this will at least provide valuable info on the reason of the crash).

I went back to the experimental build.
No crash with snapshot.

Hello.

i have the problem, that my viewer crashes each time i try to save a picture on my harddisk.

Searchin in several forums told me, that using the Microsoft skydrive is propably the reason.
As i started to use my skydrive a few day ago again and the picture-saving-issue happens since a few day...
i guess that can be the reason. The same issue had Firestorm users last year.

How can i solve this problem.... the hints i found in the SL-jira/wiki are for Firestorm users.

Skydrive inserts a DLL in the file picker, that is incompatible with tcmalloc (a memory allocator used by the older viewers; among which the Cool VL Viewer v1.26.4).


Either uninstall skydrive, or apply the workarounds for it (it's something about editing a key in the Windows registry: google for it...), or (simpler), use the Cool VL Viewer v1.26.6 (which doesn't make use of tcmalloc).

OK.... i installed the new version and.. the same Isues as with firestorm.... and SL-Viewer V3

I CANT LAUNCH IT !!!!

Though the installation process seemed to be without problems...

A) i have no icon on my desktop and in the "Start Window" i cant find it either
B) i can edit the prefs before loggin in...
but: cant enable RLV f.e. - a lot of funktions are greyed out, who hadnt been so in the v. 1.26.4
C) i can enter avatarname and Password.... and the viewer tries to start... but it doesn't take long and it closes... without any error message ot chrashwindow or something like that. Just.... down

So i fear that SL is going to be history for me... without a working viewer - no chance

It's then obviously a graphics driver issue. It is incompatible with the v3.4 renderer. Try disabling all the shaders and start with low graphics settings, then enable each one in turn till you crash: you will have found the incompatible setting. Updating (or, sometimes, downgrading to an older version) your graphics driver is your best bet to solve such issues.

This is perfectly normal: RestrainedLove can only be switched on/off once logged in (this is to prevent "cheating" with RLV devices).

There is still the option of keeping v1.26.4 and uninstalling skydrive or finding and applying the registry key workaround trick for it.

i will use the 1.26.4 (the newest version) ...have already deinstalled the skydrive

The hit with the new renderer ... guess thats the reason for all problem i have with the new Viewer-generation.

As there is no newer version for my grafic driver (my Laptop is from 2008) i have to deal with it.


I hope you can keep your support for the v.2.6 renderer for some time, that would be pretty good.
