Hi - Can someone please help me as I am pulling my hair out. I have just downloaded the Cool VL Viewer latest version 17 and it crashes me every time I teleport. I cannot find any log files where Henri said they would be. In fact, there is no folder that says 'appdata' and I'm on Windows 7. So, I am getting more and more frustrated as the minutes go by. I contacted Nicolette who could not help me. I am close to trying a different viewer now. Can someone please help? Any suggestions as to why this is happening would be good. I am quite new to SL so forgive my lack of knowledge about it. I can see why new people give up on SL. It's too hard sometimes.

Usual suspects are anti-virus software and Windows firewall that can block the viewer.

The logs location for Windows 7 can be found here. I you can't find that directory, then your system is seriously broken and it's not a surprise that viewers crash on it...

I have Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes anti-malware software installed on my laptop. Are you saying i should uninstall them? I don't understand that because when i used SL Viewer it didn't crash me on teleporting. I have lowered my security to medium secure. Are you also saying I should turn my firewall off? I don't feel like that would be a good idea. I have no idea why i can't find appdata file on my computer. I'm confused about that. It's such a shame this is happening because the Cool VL Viewer seems to be the quickest and best in terms of graphics that I have tried. I've just installed the Nirans but that is so laggy.

I cannot diagnose the reason for your problem without the logs.

Click on the start-menu (the circle with the windows-logo on it) in the bottom-left of your screen. Two columns will appear. The second item just below the icon on the right-column opens your home folder. It is either named Administrator or has your Windows username. For me it is named "ms".

I have attached a screenshot to illustrate where to find your home-folder in the start-menu. Don't get confused by the German names there. :)

That folder contains more folders named "Desktop", "Downloads", "Documents", "Contacts" and a few more. In that folder you wil also find "AppData". Open that. There you will see Local, LocalLow and Roaming. Open "Roaming". Within that you will find "SecondLife" among (probably) a LOT of others. Open "SecondLife". And there you will finally find the "logs" folder which contains... surprise, surprise... :) the log-files.

I don't seem to have an appdata file in the place you've told me to find it. I've tried searching for it too and it's not there. I have a horrible feeling that when I tried to remove an unwanted toolbar I went into my registry and did something and may well have accidentally removed it. I don't know though. I am now on a mission to find my missing appdata folder. If I find it and the log files I'll be back in touch. I am determined to use the Cool VL Viewer as it is the best one I've tried and I've tried quite a few now.

Hi Henri - I have now located my app data files - they were hidden and now have the log files for you to hopefully be able to determine why I crash on teleporting. Thanks

The debug_info.log is useless... Please, provide the files requested in the rules of this forum, and only them.

I know it says you need the secondlife dmp file but I do not have that and there is no advanced folder option to show it and when I press ctrl alt D nothing happens.
