I've installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, but the only option in debug is Options and Settings. Is this the right program?

I don't know if I'm doing this right or not, so here's a rundown of what I did. I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Express and under File Open, Project/Solution and selected CoolVLviewer.exe. When I start a new instance, I get a popup saying "Cannot find PDB File. Do you want to continue debugging?" I select yes, then logged into osgrid. Attached is the output file. I hope it has what you need.

hey there. i can at least confirm, that you are not the only one with this problem. updated to version 126.8.4. seemed to work normally for a while.
it happened after i deleted my SL cache (manually). when i logged in afterwards, the viewer would freeze EVERYTIME after about 5-10 seconds. during that 5-10 seconds the inventory was reloading to about 4500-5000 items (full inventory is about 28000) and i could run around normally. then complete freeze, win7 64bit.

wiped the new cache again, re-installed 126.8.4 . no help, only reverting to the previous release 126.8.3 fixed the issue instantly, inventory reloaded fully, no freeze, no crash, happy sheep!

Henri , I understand you want logs to investigate this but I can only quit the viewer after using task manager on Win7. I've left it 10 minutes and it just doesn't quit, it sits there after logging in on all 3 builds, a few seconds later completely locked. I got a spike of a 100% cpu after logging in thn around 50% with just waiting for it to crash or close.

No problems on other viewers or previous Cool VL builds.
Something is broken with this latest release unless we all have broken computers.

Any suggestions on how to obtain a crash log if we can't exit without force closing ?

AHHHHHH !... At last proper repro steps !!! Thank you so much ! Yes, there's a stupid bug (failure to increment the index in a loop when a wearable is not yet loaded in inventory cache) that causes an infinite loop !

The fix will be in today's releases.

If the proper repro step is deleting cache, I didn't do that and still had the lockup. I only tried to delete the cache after locking up a few times to see if that resolved the problem.

Anyway, as the bugs identified and a fix coming it doesn't matter.

Thanks Henri.

This would also happen if your cached inventory is somehow modified (or deleted) by another viewer and causes the Cool VL Viewer to consider it must reload it (this happens if the inventory cache is not complete: the Cool VL Viewer always starts loading it fully at login, unlike some viewers).

The right thing to do is to launch the viewer and then, in VS2010 to use the "Debug" -> "Attach to Process" feature, then log in with the viewer and wait for it to crash or loop (on loop, you'll have to interrupt it from VS2010). The stack trace appears in the bottom right of VS2010's window. As for the PDB, I can provide it on request (it's a very large file, so I don't upload it with each release: my ADSL uplink is 'only' 1Mbps and uploading such huge debug symbols files for each release (inluding Linux ones) would take me too much time for what it is worth).

The bug is fixed now (new releases are being built and will be uploaded today), so it doesn't matter any more. But thank you very much for your efforts in trying to provide sensible and useful info ! :)

Great to hear it's fixed! I still want to figure out how to use VS2010. I don't see any attach in the menu but can open cool vl viewer from within.
