Cool Viewer freezes when starting up

Post Cool Viewer freezes when starting up
When I start cool viewer, I get the following message:

Delete /home/zauber/SecondLife-i686-1.23.4.123908/lib/libuuid.so.1 (the viewer will then use your system's libuuid.so.1) and restart.

EDIT: Never mind, I didn't see the part about restarting.

I'm confused... If you can get the about window, then the viewer is not frozen...

Please, reinstall it and follow the installation Howto to the letter.

I got the about window by running an older version of Cool Viewer. And I will try reinstalling it again.

EDIT: No change at all.

Try clearing the cache and deleting the old settings file (in ~/.secondlife), or simply rename the ~/.secondlife directory to ~/.secondlife-old and restart the viewer.

Another problem could be file permissions: try installing the viewer as root (in /usr/local, for example).

In any case, if you already got older versions of the Cool SL Viewer running on your system, I see no reason why the new version won't run on it (all the Linux binaries I published so far were compiled on the very same system).
