Annnd... It looks like I nailed down the problem:


	Code: 2016-06-24T18:14:43Z WARNING: LLVolumeFace::cacheOptimize: Bad vertex indice (23808): maximum is: 6823. Aborting.

So it was indeed the combination of a bogus mesh and bad VS2010 code...

The fix will be in tomorrow's releases.
