Hi, since 1.26.22.14 the baked avatar in OpenSim appears blurred. Everything was allright in 1.26.22.13 and before.

The latest 1.26.22.16 also exhibits the blurred avatar problem of which I attached logs

When switching to local baking as well as in appearance editor everything is allright but not as soon as I switch to normal.

Code:
Cool VL Viewer v1.26.22.16, 64 bits, Aug 18 2018 10:32:41
RestrainedLove viewer v2.09.23.20

This glitch is not new in OS grid (and not happening in some other OpenSIM grids). Simply rebake after login (CTRL ALT R).

With v1.26.22.14, the OpenJPEG encoding parameters changed to be more compatible with KDU decoders in LL's viewer and Firestorm. So the cached baked textures that were uploaded on sim servers may appear blurry, but rebaking fixes it.

Unfortunately rebaking doesn't fix the avatar that's why I reported it. Wearing another outfit (with system clothes etc) is the same.. blurry

I thought it could be an OpenSim 0.8 vs 0.9 thing but in 0.8 (Littlefield and Kitely) I see the same blur after wearing another system shirt, also when I force a rebake again.

Cannot reproduce here (tested both on Kitely and Littlefield, not even seeing the initial blur that happens on login in OS Grid)...

It works now, after having deleted the settings folder; sorry for the trouble Henri :)

I should have known better to repro with a clean install before reporting.

Hi, the blurred bake can be seen on the main avatar (who uses Cool VL Viewer) when observed with an alt using any other viewer than Cool VL Viewer. Whoever uses Cool VL Viewer always sees themselves correctly baked, just others don't see it if those people use a different viewer than Cool VL (tested with latest Firestorm and Dayturn viewer releases)

If you or others can see your avatar properly when using a Cool VL Viewer, then obviously the textures are properly baked and uploaded to the OpenSim servers, and the Cool VL Viewer also properly retrieves them... This looks like a bug in those other viewers (and what the Hell is "Dayturn" ?... Never heard of that one !) you used... What happens with, say, Singularity ?

Wow yes singularity (the last alpha from 11 months ago) shows the bake correct. Firestorm and Dayturn do not; so weird! And Dayturn is a OpenSim specific fork of Kokua viewer since Kokua stopped making an OpenSim viewer (as far as I know).

You should report the bug to Firestorm and Kokua Dayturn teams...

My guess is that they messed up (or failed) the backport of the new coroutine-based HTTP uploads and fetches: the OpenSim (viewer-side bakes) specific code was not any more in LL's viewer and it therefore had to be rewritten with coroutines, which I properly did in my viewer (while Singularity did not yet backport the coroutine HTTP stuff at all, so they are still using the old baking code).

Another possibility would be an incompatibility in the JPEG2000 decoder (Firestorm is using KDU, which is known to have issues with OpenJPEG encoding in other TPVs), but I don't think Kokua is using KDU, so it's probably not the issue at hand (though, some new OpenJPEG versions do have issues too, and my viewer and Singularity are using an old OpenJPEG that is known to work properly).
