I recently noticed in the Linux build that using the keyboard shortcut to toggle the mini-map display, adds a space to the chat bar. When this happens, the arrow keys no longer work for movement (based on my Preferences setting). I have not noticed anything interesting in the log but my viewer info is:
Code:

This only happens whenever the chat bar is focused (and it's not a space, but a line feed that gets inserted), because in chat CTRL SHIFT ENTER is setup so to add such a line feed (allowing multi-line chats) but collides with CTRL SHIFT M (the current shortcut for the mini-map toggle), because in ASCII, CTRL M = ENTER...

The only solution is to change the shortcut for the mini-map: it will be ALT SHIFT M starting with next release.

Ah, ha. Not a space. I didn't even think to check what it was but that makes complete sense. I'll have to get used to a new shortcut. :-) I think I will remap in my skin tweaks for now and get a head start.

In fact, I'll use CTRL ALT M for the mini-map since it's easier to type and is closer to the CTRL M shortcut used for the world map.

On a Mac in 1.26.22.20 CTRL-ALT-M is handled differently if you use the CTRL key on the left side of the keyboard or the right side. Left-side CTRL-ALT-M does nothing (Left-side CTRL-M opens the World Map as normal). Right-side CTRL-ALT-M opens the Minimap as described in the previous post.

This is a bit of a nuisance, because the natural thing is to hold the CTRL and ALT keys with the left hand and tap the M with the right, and it makes the Minimap shortcut inconsistent with the World Map shortcut.

I think this is related to your chat bar issue, here (on an iMac 2018 with osx 10.14), when I use the left side CTRL+ALT+M I can toggle the minimap.Left and right side map controls are identical for both minimap and map.

I've migrated to Mohave (OS 10.14.1) and left-side Ctrl-Alt-M still does nothing. The problem seems to be the left-side Ctrl key, since right-side Ctrl + left-side Alt + M does bring up the Minimap.

Hm, It it will be very difficult to create a fix for when left and right side ctrl+alt+m works on both my imac running 10.14 and macbook running 10.13. Once I've looked into the chat bar focus, I will try see what happens and where.

OK, I have found the problem. It is my keyboard. I use a third-party keyboard (an old Matias Tactile Pro) which has always worked fine for me, but it finally struck me that I should test with an actual Apple keyboard, and with that, the problem with the left and right Ctrl keys behaving differently goes away.

I'm embarrassed that it took me so long to think of it. :(

Ah phew, it did sound very strange. One of the upsides of using Apple products is that usually the devices work pretty similar, so it sounded very odd that one mac should work and another not. Happy it's solved :)
