Can any other Mac users comment on this? The loss of the auto-open feature is seriously annoying.

So I do have a MacBook Pro 2017 model. I just tried the Control+H to bring up the local chat. I did make sure that the Preference -> Text chat -> "Auto-focus bar & history" was checked. But it does lose focus when you use the shortcut Ctr+H.

Here is my specs:

I also have the old style chat bar enabled in the cool features, but I have no difference here from what I used to do, because of that it is very hard to see what is wrong.

Can you provide a step by step of what is suppose to happen (and what doesn't happen), I didn't quite understand the previous one. Do you have any settings set beside old style chat bar, cause here my chat bar always has focus.

So if I understand correctly and this is what is happening to me also, when you use the Crtl+H to bring up the local chat history, you are not able to immediately type in chat bar because the chat bar does not have focus, and the focus is on the chat history preventing you from typing. You have to click in the chat bar to regain focus, and then you are able to type what you want in local chat.

I hope that helps!

Ah yes I see that here as well. I just booted up in windows and if I use ctrl+h to bring up local chat, i have to click the chat bar as well to type, so it's not a mac specific issue (at least to me). To be fair I don't remember it behaving differently in the past?

So I just tried the Windows version for Windows 7 and it does work correctly using Ctrl+H to bring up the chat history, which has focus for the chat bar. Therefore to me this seems like it could be a mac issue.

To be honest I have never used the shortcut keys in the past and only started using it when I saw linyifei ask for help from other mac users.

That is really strange. I will try investigate more tomorrow. I don't have any pure windows machines to test on, only mac's with bootcamp but shouldn't be any different I think. I will try test on my macbook pro as well, it has 10.13 and windows as well, thought both are windows 10.

Ok, I've tested on the laptop now. In pure windows 10, as well as osx 10.13 at both the 22 and 21 (from marts 2018) viewer, I can't get the chatbar to autofocus when using CTRL+H. Could it not be a setting?

if you want to test that to make sure, you can do the following on osx. Navigate to Library/Application Support and delete the Second Life folder. If you not sure how to get to the folder, open a terminal and type in 'cd Library/Application\ Support/' and then 'open .'

Then install the 21 viewer from http://cattencarter.com/CoolVLViewer1.26.21.14.zip

Try then to see if the chat bar autofocuses when you press ctrl+h.

It could be a setting, did you check Preference -> Text chat -> "Auto-focus bar & history" is checked? Because by default its not checked.

I'll try your 1.26.21.14 test a little later.

Ahh no I never had that enabled. Will test in a little

Edit. Confirmed. I see the same behaviour here with the 21 vs. 22 version. Something changed causing autofocus not to work.

And I can see how it gets really annoying with the feature on. you have to constantly click the chat bar. With the feature off the chat bar has focus always unless you click an active window.
