Hello,

I haven't been in-world hardly at all this year. But a few days ago I discovered an issue in the Region/Estate Access list where I am not able to add or remove estate managers. Also, the tabs at the bottom for Allowed groups, Allowed residents, Banned residents are not accessible.

I saw the Linux release notes on 4/27/2019 for v1.26.22.44 regarding a change in the region/estate floater.

Quote:
Backported from LL's viewer-release support for the new "EstateAccess" capability and access management in the "Region info" floater (*). Of course, the old (non-capability based) code was kept to preserve OpenSIM compatibility.

Quote:
(*) Because I do not own a region, and much less an estate, I could not test these changes (that affect the "Estate" tab of the "Region floater" and added the "Access" tab in it): if you are a region or estate owner, I'd be interested to know if everything works as expected and if not, please report the issue(s) in the bug report forum, providing ample info (screen shots, expected/observed behaviors, comparisons with LL's viewer, etc), keeping in mind I cannot reproduce such issue(s) myself.

Of course this is in Opensim and I am not an Estate manager in SL so I am not able to test it there.

Thanks,

You should inquire about support for this feature from OpenSIM developers but, AFAIK, it is not (yet ?) implemented and only works in SL...

So it is not a viewer bug....

The tabs may not be supported in OS, however adding and removing estate mangers I should be able to do regardless. This is supported in OS and had worked in prior CLV versions earlier in the year.

I alas cannot test this feature (I don't own any sim), and the permissions perhaps changed over the various OpenSim releases, so it is perhaps "normal" that you cannot remove estate managers (I would suspect that only the actual estate owner would be able to do it, and not all the other estate managers)... Also, there's the distinction between "estate" and "region" (estate being a group of regions), so perhaps here again there's a subtle permissions issue...

In any case, I did not touch the legacy region/estate management system, so it *should* still work in OpenSim...

Would you happen to have a link for a prior Linux version like 1.26.22.33 so I can test it?

No, I do not keep archives of the old binaries (my web site quota is limited, and the Cool VL Viewer site is not the only one I manage, by far).

I got good news about this issue.

Thanks to Waki Janus' generous offer of a sim ownership, I could debug and fix the various bugs and UI glitches of the "Region info" floater; I also added proper OpenSim support for it (since the "linden estate" and/or "externally visible" flags do not seem to be honoured/used in OpenSim and were uselessly blocking estate owners from editing the allowed access lists).

The fixes will be part of next releases.

Hello Henri,

Can you try it as grouped owed? Seems if the region is grouped owned and if your not on the estate managers list even though you are a owner of the group, you dont have access to the region/estate settings or the manager list.

Thanks,

Geoff

Not sure... Isn't switching to group-owned irreversible ?

I will have a look at the code itself... Not too sure how this case is supposed to be handled however (the permissions checking is the one used in SL, so I would suppose it is valid for SL, at least)...
