Varriregions not Fully Appearing on World Map

Hello. I am considering recommending CoolVL as the primary viewer for my grid, since it is currently the only viewer to support BoM in Opensim, however I seem to be encountering an issue with the world map display. it shows the appropriate location for 256x256 regions just fine, but does not seem to properly show the location of Varriregions. It seems to show a single 256x256 space for the Var, but the rest of the land area just appears as empty water tiles. is this a known issue with Varriregions and CoolVL?

I should also note that we are using the Warp3DImageModule to draw our map, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

A known limitation.

The problem with "var regions" is that the protocol is not documented and (from what I could reverse engineer), flawed (for example, region size is not properly advertised on TPs).

Also, the SL viewer has not been coded with variable size regions in mind: viewer side, it's a collection dirty hacks implemented by various TPV developers without much coherency...

Finally, the world map is not designed to represent regions of different sizes (all regions are supposed to be of the same size, beside the 256m hard-coded constant), so representing properly var regions and normal regions in the same world map would require rewriting fully the world map code.

I might try to work around the issue, time permitting. But I make no promise.

Alright, thanks for the reply. For the time being, i will just need to make that known to regions owners who have Var's I guess. Thank you for your continued opensim support, where other viewers like FS seem to have been falling quite short recently. :)

In fact, the code for the world map in my viewer should work... and it does... after four missing lines are added in app_settings/message_template.msg (if only the OpenSim developers could document the changes they make to the SL messaging protocol) !

You can grab this updated/fixed message_template.msg and place it into the viewer installation app_setting/ sub-directory, replacing the old file. It will auto-magically fix the world map ! :o

The mini-map is still partly broken however (the land tile is not properly centered for var regions). Still some work for me to do...

Mini-map fixed too (just a missing scaling factor...). Next release will include both fixes.

Does the *fixed message_template.msg" work for Macs to? Or do I need to wait for the next update? Loving the updated Mac Cool VL viewer though. :D

It is OS-agnostic and works for any binary (even old ones).

I tested it and it works great! So glad you changed your mind about varrigions! :)

I did not change my mind... It's still a damned dirty hack.
