YEAHHHHHHH!!!! with the magic key combination IT WORKS !!!! The screen goes black but then it unlocks !!! Hope you can fix this bug asap anyway! Thanks and a big kiss !!
In today's releases a tiny change in HiDPI window manager events could potentially fix this black screen issue on viewer exit. Go test, and let me know (I do not own any HiDPI display to test it myself).
In today's releases, I made an other attempt at fixing this issue. Please test v1.28.0.13 or v1.28.1.3 (same code in this respect).
Be sure to test with or without HiDPI support checked in the "Graphics" tab of the "Preferences" floater.
In case of failure (black screen on exit), please do report it and proceed as follow to provide meaningful logs: before closing the viewer, open the "Debug tags" floater (from the "Advanced" -> "Consoles" menu), and scroll down its list to check the box for the "Window" tag. Then, close the viewer and after having rebooted (or reset the graphics driver, if possible, with Win CTRL B), post the resulting CoolVLViewer.log here, describing what were your settings (HiDPI support enabled or not) and what is your display (resolution, HiDPI capable or not).
I also added an "IgnoreHiDPIEvents" debug setting that you may set to TRUE in order to recover the same behaviour as with v1.28.0.11 and former versions (i.e. still a black screen, but the possibility to reset the GPU driver with Win CTRL B on Win 8+).
Was IgnoreHiDPIEvents enabled or not, for the session corresponding to the log file you provided (and did you try again after flipping its value) ?
Is your screen HiDPI capable ?
Is your OS configured to use HiDPI ?
Was the viewer setup to use HiDPI (in the graphics settings tab of the Preferences floater) ?
Is the viewer ran in full screen or windowed mode ?
Once again, I CANNOT reproduce the issue myself, so if you do not provide sufficient info for me to try and guess what is going wrong on your system, I CANNOT diagnose and fix the issue !
Also, as a possible workaround, try this: minimize the viewer instead of closing it (so that you get back to the Windows desktop), and kill the viewer from the task bar instead (right-click on the button and choose "Close window" in the context menu that appears).
