Black screen on exit (was: Crash on exit)

I recently updated to the latest 1.26.24 version. It seems to be fine until I want to log out and exit the viewer. Then the screen goes black and freezes with the only way out being to reboot my laptop. I downloaded the cutting edge 1.27 version and I get the same problem. I'm not sure why this is happening I had no issues with the previous version. I'm also not getting this problem when I run Singularity. I'm unsure if there's a glitch in the latest Cool VL version or if my laptop is for some reason, no longer able to handle the latest version.

My system specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz (2400 MHz)
Memory: 8051 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18362)
Graphics Card Vendor: Intel
Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 520
Windows Graphics Driver Version: 24.20.0100.6286
OpenGL Version: 4.2.0 - Build 24.20.100.6286
RLV Version: RLV v2.8.0 / RLVa v1.4.10a

Any advice or opinions would be welcome. Cool VL has become my viewer of choice so I'm keen for a possible resolution.

Please, post a proper bug report, providing the required logs and/or crash dumps. Also, the system info you gave are not the ones from the About box of the Cool VL Viewer, which means they are irrelevant (the relevant Info, such as the actual GPU in use by the viewer on a GPU + iGPU laptop, won't appear, for example).

I have this exact same problem. Identical circumstances and conditions shared with the OP.

Please provide the required crash dump and logs, else the crash CANNOT be diagnosed and investigated !!!

Good morning!
I have the same problem too...:(
I downloaded the latest version, and even if I start the viewer without entering, as soon as I close the program the video turns black and I have to restart from the shutdown button.
I attach the log files hoping for a solution: I love Coolviewer and without it I feel lost!
Thank you! :D

The log you provided shows clearly there has been no crash at all (the viewer does shutdown cleanly), which would also explain why the other reporters were unable to provide a crash dump (since no crash = no *.dmp file, obviously).

The issue is likely a problem with your video card/iGPU driver: the viewer shuts down cleanly but your driver does not return the display to a workable state once the OpenGL window gets closed... Not sure what is causing it, but without a way to reproduce it by myself, I'm afraid do not have a solution for it... :-/

Note that I am considering the backport of libepoxy (OpenGL wrapper library) usage from Alchemy's "future" (not yet released) viewer code branch for the Cool VL Viewer v1.28.1 experimental branch. Maybe it would have the side effect to fix this issue...

Thank you for your answer!
I installed Cool VL Viewer v1.28.1 experimental branch but the problem is not solved: black video as soon as I close the program.
I installed Firestorm and it doesn't give me this problem ... :(
Any other ideas for changes? ..: /

The change is one I consider implementing: it's not yet there...

They probably have a fix for it. I might look at it, time permitting, but I make no promise whatsoever. Considering my viewer is primarily a Linux viewer, and that I cannot reproduce the issue on any Windows systems of mine (tested on 2 "bare metal" PCs and two VMs, both with Win7 and Win10), I cannot really investigate this bug.

By the way, considering the viewer did not crash the system and it is just a black screen, maybe resetting your graphics driver with the "magic" Win Ctrl Shift B hotkey could do the trick... This won't work for Win7, but Win8+ have it.
