Hi!

I just discovered that with the new version 1.31... I can't rezz objects although I wear group tags that enable me. When I switch to the old viewer 1.30.2 I can rezz as usual. Any ideas?

I believe it got introduced with the last or second but last viewer update (although I'm not sure) as I just started to use the new viewer version during my shows, too as it feels much fast for me ..

Your help is again very much appreciated!!
Frank

No log, no diagnostic...

I can rez objects just fine with v1.31 here, so it's likely a setting your changed (to confirm, you could move away the "settings_coolvlviewer_1310.xml" file from user_settings/, which would cause the v1.31 viewer to reuse the settings of v1.30 as a base)...

The trick with deleting the old settings xml didn't work.

I don't get an error warning, I only see that stop sign and I believe strongly that I didn't change something - at least not on purpose..

Debug setting: Rez objects with land group ... is TRUE

attached the log

You posted a log for v1.30.2, not for v1.31.0...
Code:
2023-10-12 18:33:52Z INFO: LLAppViewer::writeSystemInfo: Cool VL Viewer version 1.30.2.31

Also, I can rez objects just fine, so this is obviously something that depends on specific conditions (a specific object or a specific place where you rez it)...

Reproduction steps would be necessary.

Here we go:
Code:
2023-10-12 21:48:23Z WARNING: LLToolDragAndDrop::dropObject: Could not find region to rez object

Are you trying to rez across region borders, or dropping the object over surrounding sea bodies ?...

This warning occurs because the ray-casting algorithm returned a position which, obviously, is not within the region your avatar is standing in. Try rezzing at another spot or with a different camera angle (when dropping the object, your mouse cursor must intersect a spot in the region your avatar is standing in).

That is exactly what I did and I tried several regions where I'm allowed to rez. I did it twice actually, one time with the old viewer and then with the new one.. The old one works, the new one not. Nowhere.. There must be something out of my control ..

Please provide an exact location where it fails: without repro steps, I cannot diagnose your issue.

I'm now at the Firestorm Sandbox where everyone can rez without a group (and tag) (https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ ... 9/134/2702). Here I see that forbidden icon and I can't rezz.

Now I'm at a place where I have a group tag to rez, what works as expected.(I can see the +icon. Interesting is, that here I can even rez without the right tag (what I never tried before).. It might get auto-returned.. https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ ... 119/188/22

Next Example https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ ... 129/112/35 ... I can rezz even without the right group (and tag). It might get auto-returned?...The Owner just said that I couldn't rezz. but it worked..

I'm now at my office which is on a friend's land: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/ ... 5/240/4002
I usually can rez stuff when I wear the right group tag. Now with the new viewer I don't even get the +sign but only the forbidden icon and I cannot rezz, even wearing the correct group tag.

Trying now with the old version of the viewer:
I can now rez in the Firestorm Sandbox (s.o.) as it should be.
Office also works fine, I can rezz - again , even without wearing the group

I hope that helps to detect it.

Thanks for your always fast help!!!!

I can rez just fine there, using the experimental viewer branch...

This furiously looks like a bad setting. Please, zip your settings_coolvlviewer_1310.xml file, and send it to me via a PM on this forum (do not publish it publicly).

Another possibility: are you wearing some outfit with large transparent attachments ? Or perhaps are you wearing a transparent HUD ?... In this case, you would be dropping the object into the attachment/HUD, and the viewer would refuse (there have been changes with permissions, and with line segments ray casting, in the PBR viewer, that could explain that)...
