I'm now at one of the venues and moved the mouse around a bit in order to zoom.. There are places within that room where I can rezz and places where I can't... I now remember that there are problems to rezz on all mesh objects and it happened a couple times that I lost no copy items at least for as long as they got returned.. they landed somewhere but not where I wanted. Sometimes owners told me about not being able to rez on mesh.. Maybe that is the new barrier to avoid these kind of things?

Here are some more news
I now know now that I have to search for places where the system let's me rez. That works.. But for some reason I just can still not rezz in the Firestorm Sandbox.. I've tried every single corner there.. what could that be?

I cannot reproduce and can rez anywhere in that sandbox, so... I already gave you the clues (something your avatar is wearing, perhaps: just remove every attachment). Also, I'm still waiting for your settings... I'd need accurate repro steps to try and reproduce your issue. You could also try to make a video capture of a session, to show what you are doing exactly...

Thanks to the settings, I could reproduce the bug. It is triggered by the "Select only my objects" option; when active, it (wrongly) prevents dropping anything onto objects you do not own.
It is due to changes done to the picking algorithms to deal with reflection probe objects in the PBR viewer; the bug does not reproduce in LL's PBR viewer, but it is due to the fact v1 viewers do not do picking like v2+ ones do (asynchronous vs synchronous picking)...
I fixed the bug for next release. In the mean time, simply disable "Advanced" -> "Tools" -> "Select only my objects" with the experimental viewer branch.
