This is for the last 2 Linux versions of Cool VL. When I login (all 3 avatars), they bounce and spin. I try to access menu items, trying to stop animations for instance, and when I click on the menu, nothing happens.

I'm at a loss what to provide for data.

I've attached the gzipped version of my last log.

The symptoms are rather strange, and do not seem even remotely related with any code change that went into 1.32.2.7...

Eventually the gestures fix backported from LL's viewer-develop in v1.32.2.8 could perhaps explain such a thing (could be due to some particular gesture that would dislike to be reset the way gestures are now), but even this seems doubtful (especially if you experience it with 3 avatars and they do not have the same gestures).

Did you try an older version, and does it happen or not with the latter ?...
If it also happens with older versions, then I would rather suspect some change at your OS level: some weird keyboard shortcut issue with your desktop environment, perhaps, or some mouse driver issue ?

I tried 22.6 and 22.3 - all with the same issue, also .21.9 ; so it's not Cool VL.

I noticed my Space Navigator mouse was not functioning so disabled it at the OS level and unplugged it. No change.

Firestorm (latest beta) works fine.

If I remove focus from the Cool VL window, the hopping and spinning stops.

I'll just keep testing new versions - eventually the problem will go away.

I very much doubt so... You should try and find out what exactly changed in your system since the viewer last worked fine, then let me know: there is obviously a difference between how my viewer behaves compared to others, but without any clue about what could be causing this, I cannot fix it !

Do you maybe have some kind of gamepad attached?

I noticed something similar at rare times, when my X Box gamepad had some weird random inputs messing up things.

This could indeed be an explanation, especially since the SDL2 library under Linux is regularly updated to implement new game controllers support: it could explain that the issue is showing off now, and not in other Linux viewers using older SDL2 versions.
The last time SDL2 was updated was in June, in v1.32.0.25 and v1.32.1.8...

Also, some game controllers might start (when plugged or when the PC is started) in digital mode, while the viewer uses them in analog mode, which could also explain the bouncing until they are toggled in the proper mode (there's often a button to press on the gamepad to do so)...

An update to libinput on the Linux system might also be the cause of a sudden gamepad glitch... Arch Linux got a good Wiki page about game controllers configuration.
