I have the preferences set to "Automatically view after accepting" notecards, textures, and landmarks; and a couple of revisions of the client ago, it stopped obeying the check marks for that. I can't recall whether it last worked in 1.2.5.12 or 13 but it was around there. It seems the pref to auto-show new objects doesn't work either.

This is a server side issue and appeared recently, for all viewers. LL is aware of that problem (IIRC a JIRA also exists for it). When it happens, you will most probably also notice folders reported as (Loading...) in your inventory.
There is nothing I can do, viewer side, to fix this issue.

workaround:
open preferences, switch that "Automatically view.." off, click apply, switch it back on, click apply.
