Hi Henri et al,
any perspective on invisiprims working in deferred?

This will depend entirely on LL's willingness to fix this issue in their own viewer, I'm afraid... Or on some renderer expert in some other TPV developer team to take the time to track down and fix that bug.

I have tried the 1.26.5.2 viewer (and related 1.26.4.23) and have had several issues compared with 1.26.4.22.
1. InstallJammer no long installs in interactive mode, throwing an unknown bind command error. If I install with --mode quiet --destination <path> it still installs - there's a reference in the InstallJammer forums of a bugfix in InstallJammer newer beta versions for this, due to a bug in terminal mode handling.
2. Lights and Shadows doesn't show shadows at all when enabled - deferred mode and render VBO show true. On 1.26.4.22 lights and shadows works but can show trash onscreen when glow and alpha are onscreen in certain combinations. That trash is likely a graphic driver issue tho. 1.26.5.2 shadows show enabled but I see no shadows in the same place where I do see them in 1.26.4.22.
3. Edit mode freaks out - 1.26.4.23 and 1.26.5.2 both show this in multiple sandbox regions on OSgrid: when you edit a prim, the selected object begins spinning around the X or Y axis, and dropping through the ground on Z axis until deleted. This makes 1.26.4.23 and 1.26.5.2 unusable for me. Reverting to 1.26.4.22 on the same machine, in the same regions, edit mode works correctly again.
4. 1.26.5.2 items in neighboring sim (prim trees with lots of alpha leaves) appeared directly around me, rather than being shown in the distance in their correct places.
End result I did not file any of these in bug report forum because I cannot search JIRA for all of these issues to see if they are previously reported. So, its simpler to just say what I've seen different with 1.26.4.23 and 1.26.5.2 compared to 1.26.4.22. For now, I am back at 1.26.4.22 which works as expected.

"CoolVLViewer-1.26.5.2-Linux-x86-Setup --mode console" works just fine here... Please, provide a link. Did you enable the Atmospheric shaders first ?... Normally, the "Lighting & Shadows" check box should stay greyed out till the proper shaders are enabled, but depending on your graphics driver, this could possibly fail. Also, once the "Lighting & Shadows" check box is checked, you must "Apply" the settings (or close the Preferences floater with "OK") to actually enable the deferred rendering. I cannot reproduce this issue here (tested in a sandbox on OSgrid). Please open a bug report and provide the logs and full, precise, reliable repro steps: I can't fix bugs I don't see happening and for which I don't have the first clue (logs)... There is no change in the editing code between v1.26.4.22 and v1.26.4.23... I can't see this happening here either. Same remark as for the editing bug: please file a proper and full bug report. Thank you.

http://www.installjammer.com/forums/vie ... 1674#p8907I tried through a complete shutdown and restart of the viewer. Will try again shortly and see if I can run down exactly what is going on. However, I do have all the shaders enabled and such - the same settings.xml on 1.26.4.22 shows shadows and lights as expected, other than the driver trash I mentioned before. Yes, this one is quite weird. Might also be specific to my video driver or Fedora 17 64-bit. I am going to try the LL 3.3 viewer and see if it happens there before I get to serious logging or filing bug reports. I dropped this description here for you just as a "heads up" in case you see other reports come in as well. I didn't see anything listed on the changelog, so I suspect it may be coming from something else in the 3.3 backported code. That's why I want to get the LL viewer to check against. More details on that as I get time. No, thank you Henri! I keep telling folks about Cool VL Viewer and more and more folks keep finding it to be the most stable/robust viewer they use.

The version of InstallJammer I use is the latest and already includes this fix. It might be a driver issue. Please try with LL's viewer v3.3.4 and see if the same problem occurs. Else, provide logs ! But then it won't affect v1.26.4.23 which doesn't have the backported v3.3 renderer.

I expect the InstallJammer problem is related to a missing 32-bit library, but since I have a workaround - I am not really worried and will sort this later. I tried the 3.3.4 current and Lights and Shadows worked and that put me on the track of what's been happening. I think I've sorted it - some custom settings.xml option that works in 1.26.4.22 and earlier did not work in 1.26.4.23 and 1.26.5.2. After the SecondLife 3.3.4 viewer worked as expected with Lights and Shadows and the editor worked without spinning the prims everywhere, I realized the new SL viewer was starting from a default settings.xml, but I had carried forward my settings_coolvlviewer.xml. I reset the settings_coolvlviewer.xml and 1.26.5.2 came up and worked as hoped. I haven't sorted through the keys to find the specific one. Editor is working which is the biggest win for me. As a bonus under Cool VL Viewer 1.26.5.2 my 3D SpaceNavigator is working again, and it hasn't worked in a long time except with Imprudence. Shadows and Lights is also working better than it did in 1.26.4.22 - I am not seeing trash on screen like I was before when working around glow. ATI RadeonHD 5970 / Catalyst 12.6 / Fedora 17 - 1920x1200, draw 256m, all advanced graphics options and shaders maxed, 48x AA, 16x Aniso, I am seeing 7fps with Shadows and Lights, and 20fps without it. So, as is the 1.26.5.2 is my default/adopted/day to day viewer to see if I run into anything else, but at this stage it works for everything I've thrown at it now.

Hi Henri 1.26.5.x and 1.26.4.23 takes about 10-12 seconds to draw the top menus after the viewer is started For reference 1.26.4.22 takes about 1-2 seconds. The same delay goes for rendering the HTML-based search in the respective viewer. Everything else seems normal this far though. No crashing, so no debug files. System info: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2199.67 MHz) Memory: 4051 MB OS Version: Linux 2.6.32-5-686-bigmem #1 SMP Sun May 6 04:39:05 UTC 2012 i686 Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 8600 GT/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 275.21 libcurl Version: libcurl/7.21.1 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3.3 c-ares/1.7.1 J2C Decoder Version: KDU Audio Driver Version: OpenAL, version 1.1 ALSOFT 1.10.622 / OpenAL Community / OpenAL Soft: PulseAudio Software Qt Webkit Version: 4.7.1 (version number hard-coded) Any ideas where to look for the delay?

There was no change in the search between v1.26.4.22 and v1.26.4.23. This is probably just the search web server being slow (working just fine, here). In any case, should there be anything wrong, only the log could tell... No log, no diagnostic.

'bind' would be a Tk command to link some X11 event to a command, which makes no sense in console mode (which should just run with a tclsh shell). It could be a missing system library, but thats unlikely, as Installjammer has nearly all dependencies linked in statically. So if 'bind' is unknown, the Tk package could not be loaded properly.
