Hotmail (AKA outlook.com) and Gmail keep refusing the emails sent by the forum (via a legit email server ran by my ISP).

Please, do not register with an Hotmail (AKA outlook.com, AKA msn.com, AKA live.com, etc) or Gmail email account on the forum: you would never get the confirmation email and activation link.

Henri.

To fight more efficiently against spammers, I also ask you to register with a meaningful user name: if the user name doesn't look meaningful and you didn't yet post any on-topic message, you might get your account deactivated (with the impossibility to re-register with the same email). You may, for example, use the name of an avatar you are using on one of the grids you connect to.

Also, do not put any off-topic link to a website in your profile (spammers do use such links in forums, to increase their Google rating: the more links you get your site pointed at from, the higher is your rating). Such accounts would also get deactivated on sight.

Thank you.

To avoid bots and spammers, I recently changed the visual CAPTCHA for a smarter one, requiring from the person registering to the forum to sort a few virtual world names in two lists: the first is the list of virtual worlds that the Cool VL Viewer can connect to, the second is the list of virtual worlds you can't connect to with the viewer.
Everyone knowing what this forum topic is all about should be able to pass this CAPTCHA and it proved 100% reliable against bots and spammers so far.

To move a name from one list to the other, simply left-click on it with the mouse pointer and, keeping the mouse button down, drag the name from one list to the other, then "drop" it by releasing the mouse button.

Here is what the list looks like prior to sorting (simply move the names of the virtual worlds you can't connect to with the viewer from the top list to the bottom one):

If Javascript is not enabled in your browser, you will get two lists with check boxes instead:
