I just updated to 1.25 and it's now rezzing like Emerald did. I hate it! Cool was my favourite viewer ever and now it rezzes like Emerald, lump by lump... This is totally anti-immersionist. Totally destroys the illusion :((((
Please, please can't we go back to the old way of rezzing???? This is bad bad bad :((( Shame on you Henri. You've always been my hero!

I'm not sure what you mean by "rezzing lump by lump"... Perhaps do you mean that it rezzes closer objects first ?... If you don't like it, simply disable the "Speed Rezzing" feature.

In any case, the Cool VL Viewer v1.25 got the same rezzing algorythm as Snowglobe v1.5, with improvements imported from viewer 2. It rezzes *much* faster than older (v1.23 based) viewers. There is no way I'm going back (much to the contrary, we must move forward to keep on par with viewer 2) !

What I mean is for example you teleport into a place and you see nothing. You're in a desert. There's some land, maybe some water; nothing else in view. The LM said this was a store, but no sign of a store here. Then you see an object appear in the sky. It turns out to be 1/4 of a roof. Yay! Then blobs appear all around. Oh look a wall! Meanwhile there's still water underneath you. Then trees appear (but wait: I though I was indoors?), then one or two other details. A picture materialises, suspended in space - ah, but the wall it's supposed to be on isn't there yet! Things are appearing all over now, pretty much at random. Oh look a floor: goody goody!! This is actually beginning to look like it might ... after all .... be ..... a store!!

Hell that's going back to how it was four years ago. It's dreadful. Cool VL 1.23 never did that. Surely you see that yourself? Is this what Snowglobe does? This is not rezzing faster in any conceivable way; it's totally the reverse!

I'm really disappointed. Gutted even. That was the one of the biggest reasons I never used Emerald.
Henri, I thought only LL fixed things that weren't broken. Can't we have the good parts without having to tolerate the "progress"? The Cool VL rezzing implementation WORKED. Now it doesn't. Maybe you should change the metrics on how you measure rezzing speed. I promise you I WANT Cool VL to keep outshining all the others, but this just sent you right back into the morass. I'm not being flippant, and an LL-style shrug off really isn't the answer I was hoping for. :'(

There is no such thing happening here. My guess is that you got some installation issue, or some problem with your network (check the network bandwidth in the Preferences floater, Network tab). Also search this forum for "MTU" and read the corresponding messages about MTU issues.

Finally, if you want to rez closer objects first, do enable the Speed Rezzing feature (just like in v1.23).

Note also that LL recently made some server side changes to speed up teleporting between sims: the result is that you TP much faster, but that on arrival, your avatar is almost always stuck in "falling" anim for a few seconds, with only the sky and the sea showing: this is in no way dependent on the viewer and happens with any of them (v1.23 included).

As for the rezzing changes between the Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5 and v1.25.0, they only deal with textures fetching (HTTP instead of UDP, which leads to much faster fetching).
