A very very little issue, since I guess most people just don't care: The dialog warning that the server version is different from the previous one when entering a new region is nearly impossible to read, at least for me: The text is white on a light yellow background. Didn't touch any setting related to that, so I guess it's the default, at least on a Mac. Maybe there's a way to change it - honestly, I didn't look - but out of the box, it makes the warning quite useless… Just thought it was worth mentioning, no big deal really… Only noticed it because I wanted to know the server version to see if it had an impact on another problem I had.

Obviously your installation of the viewer is wrong... The text should be black on a yellow background. Please, reinstall properly or complain to Guru Coyote who is responsible for the Mac builds.
You can also disable this particular notification from the Notifications tab of the Preferences panel.
