How big a deal is the upcoming addition of Havok AI to SL, and its sublicensening which will cut out TPV's not on the TPVD from being able to get the wrapped code? See here for more info: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Hav...wer_Sublicense http://lecs.opensource.secondlife.co...Sublicense.pdf See here for discussion about it on SLU: http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/altern ... ensim.html |

There are already viewers under construction that can do the navmesh stuff on osgrid without using havoc. demo of singularity with navmesh: http://vimeo.com/40282659 |

I do not plan to register the Cool VL Viewer to the TPV directory, since LL keeps requiring excessive private info that I refuse to disclose so to preserve my anonymity. The Cool VL Viewer will therefore not support the new navmesh tools, unless someone comes up with an Open Source replacement for the licensed library (and like Lance pointed out, and like what already happened with HACD and mesh uploading, such a replacement might well be available "soon"). Note that it will in no way limit the viewer usability neither cause any incompatibility with the SL grid. You will simply not be able to generate the navmesh data using the viewer. In any case, LL didn't even release the Open Source parts of the navmesh beta viewer (it looks like LL is again developing with a closed source model behaviour, like what they did with Snowglobe v2.0...). |
