Nebadon Izumi from OSgrid and Oz Linden from SLgrid recently had a discussion about LL dropping the loginuri command line option from the official LL viewer code, partly to remain legal with the viewer-side Havok library license:

I thought I would open up the discussion on how the dropped loginuri would affect Cool VL Viewer, if at all.
Cool VL Viewer contains a grid list, so I expect this is a non-issue for Cool VL Viewer users.
However, I am not a code expert so maybe there is more than meets the eye here.

This is not an issue at all for TPVs that won't use Havok to render path finding navmeshes (the said rendering is just a tool/aid to design navmesh paths but it's in no way a requirement either to design navmesh paths). The Cool VL Viewer will stay an Open Source viewer and as such, will not use sub-licensed Havok libraries (anyway, LL would probably refuse to sub-license them to me unless I give up my privacy and anonymity to sign up there stupid "contribution agreement" form which asks for info that is illegal for LL to ask for such a purpose (disproportionate info requested for the purpose) in my country).

I don't plan to drop OpenSim support any time soon.
