when using multiple monitors on linux the full screen resolution is the largest sum of all of the montiors combined, this does not work on display managers like i3 and sway which the viewer exclusivly maximizes to rather than all 3 screens, i have 3 montiors 2x1920x1080 and one 1680x1050 in portrait mode, my resolution for a single monitor when trying to use full screen comes up as 4890x1680 when the monitor is only 1920x1080 this cause field of view issues like those from quake when you turn you fov up or down.

This is in no way a viewer bug, so I moved the topic where it belongs...

Under Linux, the full screen mode is under SDL2 control, as well as dependent on the Linux desktop software you are using (especially the compositor, if any, but even without one, Gnome, KDE, Xfce, MATE, etc might behave differently), the graphics driver (e.g. NVIDIA's proprietary one, AMD's proprietary one, Mesa, etc), and how you configure the viewer.

After SDL2's adoption, I introduced a new setting for the full screen mode under Linux: "FullDesktop". This setting determines whether the viewer will ask to SDL2 to go "full screen" or "full desktop", so you should try and change it, then restart the viewer.

However, using "full screen" has always been a PITA, with all SL viewers (and unlike the Cool VL Viewer, the others will likely crash half of the times when they go full screen under Linux), and I do recommend you keep the viewer in the windowed mode: with a maximized window and an auto-hiding task bar (when any in your desktop software), you will use almost all the monitor screen area, and with a good, configurable, window manager (e.g. Sawfish, but i3 should be able to do it too), you could even add a window rule to make the viewer window title-less and even border-less (i.e. non managed by the window manager), therefore having it cover the full screen, while retaining the possibility to display other windows above it if need be (something the true "full screen" mode does not allow, but that the "full desktop" one can do)...

I have a dual monitor set up, and I do much as Henri suggests with success. I use the viewer in maximized but windowed mode (Fedora 40/Gnome 46 in an X session) and then I 'undecorate' the window, removing the title bar once the viewer is running. This gives me an effective full, single screen which seems to also disable compositing.

the full desktop is set to false, i am using x11 with i3 i am assuming it would be the same under sway but i have not tried it yet them being a tiling window manager i expected they would be different from stacking, doing as you said was the only way i could get it to let me select/set the resolution, so i was just posting this info to let you know that it was broken, for my situation, as for graphics card i run amd with kernel level drivers nothing more can't get proprietary driver package to install on debian let alone devuan which is non-systemd version of debian, thanks for the info it makes a little more sense i have had issues with sdl games doing the same thing in the past, before i moved to i3 even.

Then try changing it for "TRUE"... Depending on what i3 considers a "desktop" and how you configured virtual desktops for it, it might be interpreted as "full single monitor screen" by SDL2...
