Post subject:  Win 7 64bit - keep running out of memory

I recently purchased a new pc, it's running Win 7 Professional 64bit - i7 3770k, 16GB memory, etc. I'm using the onboard Intel 4000 graphics.

Since installing Cool VL Viewer, I constantly get running out of virtual memory errors and crashes. I ran the same viewer for months on my old pc, Win 7 home, 32 bit, 4GB memory, and never had these issues.

I can watching the memory usage steadily climb over 3GB in Task Manager, before it crashes, regardless of what I'm doing in the viewer.

I've tried playing with the settings as suggested here - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=953&hilit=virtual+memory#p4383

Haven't had much luck yet, please let me know what info I can post to help.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm using v1.26.7.7 on Win7-64, and I have never seen that problem.

It's most likely something specific about your computer. Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics-card and your sound-card?

Oh... and you should NOT enable the setting in the viewer to load textures at full resolution. That will cause out-of-memory errors pretty quickly unless you are in a very sparse environment like an island with very little on it. If you don't know where that setting is, then don't bother as it defaults to off.

I am upgrading my video card driver now, will report back how that works out.

I am running the out of the box settings now in windowed mode.

Its probably the Intel 4000 OpenGL Driver.

I saw the same issue on a notebook with Optimus (aka Intel 4000 Gfx + some Nvidia 540M chipset).

If i forget to switch on the nvidia gfx it crashes and i see those out of memory issues and the viewer crashes fast. If i switch the Nvidia gfx on, it runs smooth and stable.

I think you're right. I put my old Nvidia card in this machine to try it out, my motherboard has got some Virtu MVP feature that tries to use both the on board and added card together which I'm trying to disable now.
