Hi Henri.
For some reason it seems the red beacons used on area search as well as on map when you locate friends just refuses to show up with 1.26.8 (36).
They works perfectly well in the former release (35).
Ideas?
(And on a side note FYI, even Debian Stable has a libstdc++ > 6.0.16 mentioned in the roadmap. 6.0.17 is bundled)

Beacons work just fine here, and nothing was changed into the related code between 1.26.8/9.35 and v1.26.8/9.36... Just make sure your beacon is not already locked to track an avatar in the radar (as the latter always takes precedence) and that the tracked object/avatar is farther than 6m away from your avatar.

I did a little more in-depth comparing today and actually found a beacon in 36 as well so you are right about that it works. But for me it is in weak black like a shadow so it was only visible against bright sky or very light coloured backgrounds. It was not the usual distinctive bright red. Hmm. *scratches her head*
What actually defines the beacon colour?

It's hard-coded to red. If you are seeing it any other color, that's probably a graphics driver bug, and since I can't reproduce it here... Plus, there was strictly no change whatsoever between 1.26.8.35 and v1.26.8.36 in the beacons rendering, so...
