I'm using lxle 12.04 (which is basically a light ubuntu 12.04) and have installed with the sudo command, installed as just my normal user..... installed to home directory......even redirected the log files to my home documents folder......... no matter what I do I get this "Cool VL Viewer is unable to access a file that it needs" error. I can browse to the cool vl folder in terminal and the command to start the viewer runs fine with the sudo command............... what am I missing?

If you refuse to give any tangible detail for me to diagnose the problem, then it is *your* problem...
