No installer appears in Debian wheezy 64 bits, give the necessary permissions to Cool Vl stable but the installer does not appear, try in the terminal did not look like a fault, what could it be?

Just like the viewer itself, the installer is a 32bits application and, as such, requires that the 32bits compatibility packages are installed on your system (check your distro's FAQ and/or forums to know which packages must be installed).

It's in no way a bug in the installer, but a badly configured system on your side.

Trying to install CoolVLViewer on a Linux Mint 15 "Olivia" (64-bit) install I just made. Downloaded the linux installer CoolVLViewer-1.26.8.27-Linux-x86-Setup, then ran:

chmod a+x CoolVLViewer-1.26.8.27-Linux-x86-Setup

then ran:

./CoolVLViewer-1.26.8.27-Linux-x86-Setup

The installer returns to the command prompt immediately. No errors are displayed, but the return code is 127. :(

Tried adding "--help" to the command line... didn't help. Got the same result from 1.26.9 and 1.26.4 installers.

This is not a bug in the installer. This is just that the installer is a 32bits application and needs the 32bits libraries installed on your system in order to run. Browse this forum in search for Linux 64bits installation issues (there have been a few such topics in the past about it, especially about Ubuntu), or ask support on the Linux Mint forum.

You could also run the installer under gdb to see if it shows any problem (gdb CoolVLViewer-1.26.8.27-Linux-x86-Setup).

Alternatively, get the Cool VL Viewer sources and compile them on your system.

Oh, duh... Thanks.

Maybe add this information (or a link to it) to the Linux Install HOWTO page? I did check there first...

For any other Mint (or maybe Ubuntu or Debian) users reading this and wondering, type:

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

This takes a Long Time! But when it's done, the Cool VL Viewer Setup works. :)

If you want media playing support, also make sure to install the 32bits gstreamer libraries and their associated dependencies...

I cannot run the installer in Ubuntu 13.10 x64 since they decided to remove ia32-libs. I get the following error:

./CoolVLViewer-1.26.10.3-Linux-x86-Setup

You need the 32bits libraries to run the installer, which is also a 32bits application. Please, ask support on the forum of your distribution (I don's use any Debian-based distribution and can't help you myself).

Unfortunately Ubuntu has gone to multiarchitecture support which is great if you use their repository. Now if you want a 32-bit library you have to do: apt-get install libname:1386 one at a time. It might be time for a new distro.

Thanks, have a good week.
