Hello,

I am having issues with viewing prim enabled media that uses Flash or QuickTime. For an example there is a prim that has enabled media that shows a web page that has Flash. The areas on the webpage has a puzzle piece instead of the Flash media.

I have a new laptop computer (msi GE62 Apache Pro-001) that has a SSD of 120GB and 1TB hard drive that I have all my software on including Cool VL Viewer 1.26.18. I am guessing since Cool VL is on another drive that it cant find the plugins? Or maybe because its windows 10? I had no problems on my old laptop running windows 7. I also copied my chat logs and settings over from the old laptop to the new one. Maybe that was the problem?

Below is viewer and system information.

Code:

Flash is not supported any more by LL and their new CEF3 plugin. It *might* be possible to install Flash as a plugin to the CEF3 plugin, but I frankly don't know how to do that under Windows... Better asking Chromium/CEF/Windows people...
As for QuickTime, it's a proprietary protocol (don't forget to thank the USA and their "software patents"... I'm glad I live in Europe where such an heresy is not possible), and LL is currently exploring the solutions to get something working with (some) QuickTime media (a VLC-based plugin is in the works).

Note that Flash is due to be abandoned and is being replaced everywhere by HTML5, which the CEF3 plugin fully supports. Apple also announced that their QuickTime plugin was no more supported for Windows and should be uninstalled due to serious security holes plaguing it (if you got it installed, or "QuickTime alternative", for example, the Cool VL Viewer will still be able to play QuickTime media as long as they are not embedded in a web page, i.e. for raw media URLs).

The Cool VL Viewer also lets you the choice to use the old QtWebKit plugin instead of CEF3 (in "Advanced" -> "User Interface", un-check "Use the CEF3 web plugin"), in case you got Flash and/or QuickTime working with it (but starting with tomorrow or Monday, LL will flip the switch of TLS v1.2 and QtWebKit won't be usable any more to log into LL's websites).

Finally, you are using an outdated version: please update to v1.26.18.8...

Thank you for your help. I forgot about Flash no longer being supported and moving to HTML 5 and Quick Time being a security threat and Apple does not support Quick Time on Windows 10 too. I thought since I was able to view the Flash enabled webpage outside the viewer on a browser I would beadle to view it within the viewer also. I made a media enabled prim in-world (OpenSim) so users can interact with the website spacesounds.com while being in a space themed room. I will have to rethink that now.

I upgraded to the latest viewer.

Thanks again,
Geoff

Please try today's releases. They got a new gstreamer v1.0 based plugin that can replace the bogus/deprecated/vulnerable QuickTime one (read the release notes for how to install gstreamer on your system), and a patched CEF3 plugin that should be capable of using an installed Pepper-Flash plugin (as bundled with Google Chrome).
