I'm seeing a modal come up after launching Cool on a fairly fresh Debian 9.3 (amd64) box. It comes up again any time the viewer wants to show a web page. I grabbed these lines out of the log that appear to be relevant:

Code:
2018-03-04T19:13:14Z WARNING: LLPluginInstance::load: apr_dso_load of /home/julia/opt/CoolVLViewer-1.26.20/bin/llplugin/media_plugin_cef.so failed with error 20019 , additional info string: libgconf-2.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
2018-03-04T19:13:14Z INFO: LLPluginMessagePipe::pumpInput: Got EOF from plugin socket.
2018-03-04T19:13:14Z WARNING: LLAlertDialog::LLAlertDialog: Alert: The following Media Plugin has failed:
embedded_browser

Please re-install the plugin or contact the vendor if you continue to experience problems.

I'm guessing I'm missing a library or something but I'm at a loss as to what, I have all the gstreamer libs installed as described in the Linux Install thread, but I don't imagine they're related to this. FWIW, Chromium 64.0.3282.119 is installed on this box (I'm using it right now to type this) and I'm using the standard GNOME 3 desktop, not sure if that helps but just in case...

Any ideas? Thanks! :)

I'm running a Fedora distro but libgconf-2.so.4 (for me) is part of 'GConf2: A process-transparent configuration system'. It isn't related to Gstreamer at all, but rather a configuration framework and editor.

You will need to install the proper libgconf2 Debian package. Newer distros might not have it installed by default. This is a dependency of CEF (i.e. of libcef.so), not of the viewer (or the plugin) itself.

To check for missing dependencies, you can, from a terminal pointing inside the viewer installation directory, type:
Code:
./cool_vl_viewer --check-libs
It will tell you if any system library is missing and which one.

That did the trick! Thank you very much! :)
