I tried to install the Cool Viewer and ever since when i open second life it gives me a error that says "can't activate GL rendering context" and then it closes i've uninstalled both viewers and reinstalled only the original second life viewer multiple times and it continues to give me the same error message. I have no idea what to do.

It looks like a problem with your graphic drivers (corrupted file ?)... try reinstalling them.

THANKS for the response! I have reinstalled my graphics card driver, but I still get the same error message with the standard sl viewer. The other sl viewer I have is just non responsive. Do you have any other ideas?

It looks like this issue...

Did you recently update your graphic card drivers ?... If yes, you might want to downgrade to the previous version.

Otherwise, it could be a problem with the hardware graphic settings for the viewer (Anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing or VBO).

To force the hardware graphic settings to the most compatible ones (when you can't get to the preferences menu before the viewer would crash before you have a chance), add these options in the command line of the viewer (under Windows, it would have to be added in the shortcut, after the C:\SOME\FOLDERS\SecondLife.exe filename):

--set RenderAnisotropic 0 --set RenderVBOEnable 0 --set RenderFSAASamples 0

This is for v1.23.5. For v1.19.2, use:
-set RenderAnisotropic 0 -set RenderVBOEnable 0
(only one dash before each 'set', and no FSAA setting).

Oh... also try to clear the SL Viewer cache manually... It might solve the problem if it was corrupted.
