Mesh objects fail to rez with object cache active

Another new development: when I login to a region and my object cache is on, some objects are indeed missing. But if I tp away, then back, it looks like all objects reappear. But doing a "refresh visibility of objects" after logging in doesn't seem to do anything. Aren't these two supposed to do more or less the same thing, at least regarding the visibility of objects?

I can post logs of sessions where I'm doing either of those by the way, just ask if you need them. :)

This is different and would be the issue seen by others with other viewers (though, I personally never experienced it on login, just once while riding a mesh vehicle): in this case the "refresh visibility" is helpless (it is a viewer-side feature and the issue seems related with missing data in what is sent by the servers, thus why it works after a TP away/back-in, when the data gets resent): see the links I posted in my first reply in this thread.

In the recent few weeks I'm having a problem where random objects, prims, will not appear. Usually deleting the contents of the objectcache folder fixes it but sometimes it takes a full cache clear and a couple of restarts. Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I merged your message with the existing, related topic.

I am afraid the problem does not come from the viewer itself (all viewers seem to be affected). It is likely a server-side issue causing a corrupted "interest list" to be transmitted to the viewer (which then will also cache the corrupted data, thus the need for a cache clear, in some cases)...

Thanks for the reply, Henri. I have encountered other odd behaviors as well and have heard they are being caused by sl moving servers to a new host. I guess we'll bear with it until they fix it.

Please, to everyone seeing this issue happening, do test today's release (v1.28.2.56): it got a change backported from LL's latest commit to their viewer code which fixes a years old bug (dating back from the days when the LLVOCache code was rewritten by LL) affecting caching of OUT_FULL objects update server messages data.

Despite the total lack of information in LL's commit about what issue it is supposed to fix, it could very well be related with the disappearing objects issue recently seen in all viewers; this could be the result of this kind of OUT_FULL messages being now sent more frequently by the servers, for example to improve the reliability of the new 360° snapshot feature, since I strongly suspect that the concomitance between the release of this feature and the appearance of this bug is not just a coincidence...

Sorry, I was away from SL for some time, I couldn't test before today. But it seems the change you backported didn't fix anything: I'm still getting objects that won't rez when I log in, but will after I tp elsewhere and come back...

You probably did it, but I need to make sure. When such objects are missing on login, you did try the usual "nudge camera zoom (mouse wheel)" initial LOD calculation race condition work-around, did you ?

I'm so used to doing it that I probably did it every time, but I did it on purpose last time I logged in to be sure, and it didn't solve anything.

Yes, what I expected. This bug (which happens with every viewer) is now tracked and actively investigated via this JIRA.
