I recently got a new computer and am in the process of moving over all my chat logs and settings. The question I have is I have an alt that I have been using for years but dont remember the password. It is saved in my viewer though is there anyway to either copy that password file over to the new computer or view it so I can get the password? I tried using the forgot password on the second life website but sadly the email address i used has the same password as the game password.

While, with the Cool VL Viewer, you will avoid password invalidation when changing the network card or interface (which MAC address is used to cipher the hashed password in saved settings), when changing the computer, the computer Id itself is changing, and that Id is used to cipher the setting storing the MAC address override the viewer uses to prevent password loss on network card change...
Obviously, saving the computer Id itself is not an option (it would allow a hacker to decipher everything and steal your password hash), so when you copy your settings over to another computer, or when you change the hardware on your computer and that change triggers an Id change, you also loose all your saved passwords hashes and must reenter the passwords themselves at login, manually.
