Cool VL Viewer forum

I recently found out that the Cool VL viewer no longer connected to the Vivox server.
I reinstalled it with the installer and did the dependency check. Everything checked out okay.
However when I started the viewer again, I saw a warning saying that no associated executable could be found for /.wine-slvoice/drive_c/Vivox/SLVoice.exe.

I tried a 'locate wine-binfmt' which did not show with any results.
Maybe wine-binfmt had gone missing? I used synaptic to install it (where it did not show as installed).
Restarted the viewer and now it connected to Vivox.
So I wondered how the installer determined that it was installed, during dependency check.

This has nothing to do with the installer itself, but only with the install-wine-SLVoice.sh script: if you change the configuration of your system (such as removing or adding binfmt_misc, or, for example, changing Wine for Wine64 or vice-versa), then you should re-run this script which will auto-detect the binfmt_misc mechanism/module presence and validity (i.e. does it actually points to a Wine executable instance ?), and will configure the viewer accordingly (when binfmt_misc is missing or invalid, it installs a wrapper script instead to launch the Windows SLVoice.exe executable via Wine).

Thanks for the explanation. Somehow SLVoice.exe was not startable without wine-binfmt. I'm glad it is now.
