Just like you do in the official LL viewer and pretty much any software... CTRL C to copy (or CTRL X to cut) and CTRL V to paste... You may also use the Edit menu, and the Cool VL Viewer also implements such a menu for the notecard floater (missing in the official LL viewer). Under Linux, the Cool VL Viewer also implements the X11-like secondary copy/paste temporary buffer (with left click and mouse select to copy and middle click to paste).

And you can now (with Cool VL Viewer v1.23.5.28 and v1.25.0.5) also use a context menu to cut/copy/paste/etc from/to line and text editors. Just right click in the field to pull down the menu.
