Is there a FAQ on building from source?

 I'm trying to create a native 64-bit build but as far as I can tell the file SConstruct never gets created. I found some instructions about using make-SL and I have all the source files, libraries, patches, etc. It never complains about anything missing, it just tells me there is nothing to build because SConstruct is either missing or empty each time I run the script.

Since you are mentioning SConstruct, I assume you are speaking about the v1.19.2 branch of the Cool VL Viewer... Be aware that this branch is old (and soon to be deprecated), and will probably never successfully build to 64bits binaries. For 64 bits machine, you should prefer v1.25.0 (and then use cmake-SL). Note however that I provide ZERO support for 64bits builds (even the newest Snowstorm official branch of SL viewers still got issues with 64bits builds...).
