I apologise if it is already explained, but a quick search both here and in the SL wiki showed nothing, so I have to ask. The only relevant information I found was this, but that would change the settings file permanently, which is not what I want.

I want to set different settings for different accounts so that, for example, the user "A1 A2" on Grid A will keep conversations logs, last screen image and the whole user directory but the user "B1 B2" on Grid B won't, without changing that by hand every time.

Any tips?

Thanks!

You can already set whether or not to keep chat logs for each account, and each account is kept under a legacy_name@grid_name/ directory (or just legacy_name/ for the second life grid), so you can already do what you want, with the exception of the last screen dump and various *.xml setting files, which are always written in each user account directory (and this won't be changed, I'm afraid): to get rid of those, you could use a wrapper script to launch the viewer, that would erase the files once the viewer session is closed.

Good idea! I can do that, thanks!

Yes, but how? I mean do I log in in that particular grid and then edit the Preferences floater? What exactly do I do? Sorry for the dumb question, I've just never done it before.

Obviously, per account settings can only be accessed from the Preferences floater once logged in in the corresponding grid and with the corresponding avatar... The viewer can't know what grid/avatar the preferences relate to before you are logged in...
