I gave the experimental "Cool VL Viewer v1.31.0.16, Nov 25 2023 09:12:37" a go and noticed something odd with transparency, which is not related to the "white smoke texture".

If I :
* Rez a cube
* edit it an changes transparency with the spinner in the edit tool to 2% or higher.
The cube looks 100% transparent at once. O_o

I have also noticed that some clothes (on others, so sorry I can't give any repo steps) don't show in PBR mode. I suspect a transparency issue there too as they show in crtl-alt-t

While the clothing is a fuzzy observation, the cube is easy to reproduce for me at least.

I'm not seeing this issue here (see screen shot)... This could be a graphics driver issue.

Please, provide viewer logs !

Today when I woke up I gave it some thought, it might partly be a user missconfiguation involved.

Some more testing gives at hand that the issue only happens with GL profiles unchecked/unused. Oops :)
(I just reset my previous settings without much thought about all new stuff, and then witched on PBR)

Log and screenshots attached. (Sorry for the image quality, I had to squeeze them a bit to reach under your filesize limit.)

Definitely a driver issue, then... Also, you are using a very old NVIDIA driver (*), while your GTX 970 can run the current driver (v535.129.03 as I am writing this).

With the current driver and core GL profile disabled, I am not seeing this issue here either...

Please, upgrade your driver and report whether it solves the issue for you as well or not.

(*) v470, which is normally reserved to old cards such as the GTX 6x0, and you are not even running the latest which is v470.223.02.

No wanting to fiddle around with other issues,I've chosen the one in the distro repo. No newer available hough that channel right now I'm afraid.

My whole OS is due for upgrade to a newer version. So I'll get the update done at that point. I can not do a full OS upgrade right now hough, postponed for the holidays.

However, when using profiles it behaves normal for me, so it's not a showstopper.

Thank you for help, pointers, patience, and great viewer Henri!
