Hi, I have searched the forum, but yet to find the answer to my question. Is there a 'phantom' option to add to your avatar, to keep others from pushing you around?
If so, can you tell me where I can find it to use it?
Maybe it's called something else in coolviewer, and I have overlooked it?
Thanks for you time to help me find this option.
Have a great day!

There's no such feature. The "pushes" happen server-side anyway, so the viewer can do nothing about it...

Thanks for the quick reply, but there are several viewers that do have this option in preferences or advance. This is why I was asking if CV had this option. It makes the person that is bumping or pushin you, walk right thru you instead of being able to push or bump you. it's called 'phantom' in the other viewers. I can only use one other viewer, but prefer & like all the extra features that come with your viewer. I know you do not like to 'copy' other viewers, this is why I did not mention this in my post. thanks again!

This is an ugly and dirty hack that stops sending avatar update messages to the server; those messages contain your avatar's position, rotation, whether you are editing, typing, the camera position, the control key flags (up/down keys, mouselook mode keys), the draw distance (important for the server to send you objects data !), etc... In fact, someone could still push you by bumping into your avatar's last sent position (your arrival point, or the point where you enabled "phantom", or 0,0,0), but there are many ill side effects to this "feature". Beside, this kind of feature could be used to circumvent legit protections (some security orbs and such, scripted walls setup for privacy/access control) or to spy on others. Also, your avatar would stop updating properly in others' viewers (failure to update its rotation, particularly, but not only) and could cause some scripts in your own attachments to stop working properly. I refuse to implement such a hack, sorry !

I understand completely the refusal to implement a "hack" into your viewer. And thank you for standing your ground not to do so. I would never expect you to corrupt or install such into the viewer. Maybe I have explain the option incorrectly. Or do not know the 'technical' name of this option that Phoenix, Firestorm, Imprudence & the SL Viewer have within their viewer. Surely the creators of these 'reputable' viewers would not have installed a "HACK" program into their viewer? I will try to find out 'exactly' what this option "Phantom" consist of. Thanks again for your insite on the Phantom mode. Dey

I found that "Phantom" option in Phoenix' code and just told you what it did after looking at its implementation. There is no mistake there... Remember that Phoenix is just another fork of the griefer's preferred viewer: Emerald... Many "features" (most of them extremely dirty and buggy hacks) that were "implemented" (if it can even be called such, given the poor coding practices) by Emerald's script kiddies are still in Phoenix' code and some were even ported to other viewers... I have somewhat higher standards and principles... For me, "reputation" is not about how well known is a (group of) person(s) and their products/brand, but about how honest and reliable they are. In particular, the Cool VL Viewer will never harm your privacy, neither will it ever allow you to harm others' privacy.

Good thing! And for me everything that counts in an SL client is: - stability - pretty good rezzing of everything - easy (means fast) to use UI For the last point, I even changed the XML for the Advanced Sky Editor window: - Lighting Tab is the default (first one) so I dont need to switch to it each time - Section with East Angle is on the left instead in the middle of the window. Both of that so I can just open the window, move it to the top right of the screen and easily move around the sun with the minimum of covered screen by the Sky Editor window. Because during live events I move around the sun all the time to get some highlights/shadows (not THE shadows, just the regular stuff done by the sun, REAL shadows are not usable most of the time because of *indoors* ) on things and people. Where I found that editiong those XMLs is a PITA cause of all the hardcoded widths and heights.
