Howdy =) I am running Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, and I have several gstreamer plugins installed along with libs, however I get this error when trying to play a music stream..

2012-08-22T01:49:27Z INFO: start: Starting internet stream: http://www.random-stream.com:7000/
2012-08-22T01:49:27Z INFO: start: Playing.....
** Message: don't know how to handle audio/mpeg, mpegversion=(int)1, mpegaudioversion=(int)1, layer=(int)3, rate=(int)44100, channels=(int)2, parsed=(boolean)true
pid:14215: (media plugin) processGSTEvents:256: GST error: Internal data flow error.

Anyone can point me to a specific plugin package or lib that would correct this ? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Varu,

did you install the i386 (i.e. 32-bit) packages for gstreamer, and if so (which it looks like), did you install all the plugins for it?

Code:
amalia@sisyfos:~$ dpkg --list | grep gst | grep :i386
ii  gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3:i386                  0.10.15.debian-1ubuntu1                                                 Fluendo mp3 decoder GStreamer plugin
ii  gstreamer0.10-plugins-base:i386                 0.10.36-1ubuntu0.1                                                      GStreamer plugins from the "base" set
ii  gstreamer0.10-plugins-good:i386                 0.10.31-1ubuntu1                                                        GStreamer plugins from the "good" set
ii  gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio:i386                   0.10.31-1ubuntu1                                                        GStreamer plugin for PulseAudio
ii  gstreamer0.10-x:i386                            0.10.36-1ubuntu0.1                                                      GStreamer plugins for X11 and Pango
ii  libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0:i386            0.10.36-1ubuntu0.1                                                      GStreamer libraries from the "base" set
ii  libgstreamer0.10-0:i386                         0.10.36-1ubuntu1                                                        Core GStreamer libraries and elements

I made it work (not just audio but also video) with Precise a few months ago. I didn't keep any notes, so I presume it was pretty much straightforward (thanks to multiarch, I might add -- in a previous attempt years ago it was a major pain in the behind).

Love,
Lia

I had all of those, including 64 bit versions (I assume they were 64 bit because the package name was not succeeded by :386) I will check some more things out, ty Amalia =)

EDIT - Perhaps the problem is that I *DO* need to install the i386 versions anyway, since Cool VL Viewer is 32 bit.. I will try that now.
EDIT 2 - The i386 versions of some of those packages are not an option.. must be a repository issue, or are not supposedly needed, being that there are 64 bit versions of those packages.. I will keep checking it out, how frustrating lol

Hi again,

yes, you _do_ need the i386 (i.e. 32-bit) packages. Multiarch will allow you to install those in parallel.

Lia

Installing these 2 packages resolved the problem. =) Thanks again Amalia !!

gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3:i386
gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio:i386

I wanted to post that, in case anyone has the same problem I have. Can a moderator please edit my topic title with SOLVED or some such thing, so others can see it ? Oh and great work on the viewer Henri =)

EDIT: I wanted to also stress the fact, that when you use apt-get to install the above packages, they will not be "visible" to apt-get. You have to *manually* add the :i386 extension to the package name, as I have done above, to pull it from the repository.

Yes, that's the way you have to do it explicitely. I picked that one up from the description on how MultiArch works. Sorry I didn't manage to make that clear in my previous posts.
